This is why socialism never works. It’s based on making other people forfeit what they earn.
That disincentives working hard to earn money.
Then society collapses.pic.twitter.com/55ippAy4Ub

Eilish was one of eight who was honored for her work. At the event, Stephen Colbert announced Eilish is donating $11.5 million of the proceeds from her most recent tour to… pic.twitter.com/K555kWDTZj

She is just like Bernie Sanders. Whatever HE makes is acceptable wealth. His 3 houses are reasonable, don't you see?
Whatever YOU make, if its more than him, should be given away at his discretion and direction.

Same here but that wasn't the Carnegie library. I was a pretty nerdy kid. Loved to go to the library in the summer, browse the card catalogue for something interesting. I inevitably ended up in the sci-Fi section, getting Asimov, Heinlein, the other greats.

Ditto. It was frustrating though because every time I would go look for the book I wanted, Redstone had already checked it out ahead of me.

This thread is odd for sure. A rich person is speaking to a bunch of other rich people and encourages them to donate money as she is doing. That isn't socialism. It isn't anything to get mad about.

Just going to point out that capitalism is not biblical either. In fact, probably a good mix of both in the Bible.

I'm not sure I agree. When I read the Scriptures, I get a sense that people are free to buy and sell. I understand there was also slavery/indentured servitude and not all nations were the same. But, I don't think that free enterprise is inherently sinful. That said, Christians have an obligation of love to share with those in need, particularly those within the church.

This thread shows that the MAGAts just straight up hate women. Only on TexAgs could a woman get eviscerated for giving away 20% of her wealth and asking other wealthy elite to do the same. How much do you want to bet these same people have praised Trump for giving away his presidential salary?
Teeny tiny conservative men get so angry when they see a women be more financially successful than they are.

I'm intrigued! Where might I find a book about this???
Andrew Carnegie's Gospel of Wealth.Quote:
"The man who dies thus rich dies disgraced."Quote:
"Surplus wealth is a sacred trust which its possessor is bound to administer in his lifetime for the good of the community."Quote:
"In bestowing charity, the main consideration should be to help those who will help themselves."Quote:
"The man of wealth must become a mere trustee and agent for his poorer brethren, bringing to their service his superior wisdom, experience, and ability to administer."

Funny part is pretty much ever billionaire donates large portions of their worth annually. Example, Warren Buffett is donating 6 billion this year. I'm sure she refrained from mentioning this.

HAH...
Disagreeing with this chick doesn't mean anyone "straight up" hates women. We all just think she idealistic and dumb BECAUSE OF HER IDEAS, not her sex.
HELL, your side wants women to get their ass kicked in sports by guys pretending to be women and have dudes join them in the bathrooms and showers...and you want that BECAUSE OF THEIR SEX...
