Funny that they thought it would be easier to pull this thing off during the day vs night.

No one would ever expect that!

Are you saying the thieves were Spaniards? No one expects that!

Then they are really ****ty security guards. Hopefully they lost their jobs. At the very leash, they could've locked down the museum or alerted the police.

They used a man lift and broke a window to gain access. In and out in 7 minutes. I agree they were worthless, but I do not think a lockdown or calling police was going to prevent the escape. They needed the tools to intervene.

The robbery took between six and seven minutes and was carried out by people who were unarmed but who threatened guards with angle grinders, a prosecutor said.

Photographs from the scene on Sunday showed investigators focusing on a ladder against the south-east corner of the building, overlooking the River Seine. The ladder is mounted onto a mechanised lift and touches a balcony on the upper floor of the museum. The thieves allegedly parked the monte-meubles, or basket lift, outside the Louvre on purpose.

I guess you're right. It just happened too fast and was too stunning.

I was there in mid July and noticed that they had personnel in every room that I would hardly classify as "security". These workers would sit in a random chair and look like they were struggling to stay awake with no type of security equipment. My guess is they are referring to these employees who were threatened.

I've always maintained that you can get past security anywhere if you are wearing a safety vest and carrying a ladder. This isn't exactly the type of ladder I had in mind, but apparently any ladder will do

They're probably there to keep people from touching things and screwing around, not actually protect anything from thieves. They're likely analogous to the people who check tickets at each section in Kyle or keep people from wandering into the nicer sections with boxes. Remember, this area would normally only be accessible from controlled entry points where you would expect more armed security and scrutiny. Anyone here would have had to have gone through the front and would likely have to go back out, so there was no point to station armed security there.

This is a stretch. The other 6 times it has been robbed have been DEI also? Thieves are gonna Thieve. The last time was 1998 and the next time will be another 30 plus years. If this was happening once a year yes but dont get caught up in crap like this for a jewelry heist.

Wow. Not surprising, but Wow.

Sounds like this was the password for just the Video Surveillance System, not the Alarm System. I am assuming multiple people had access and used the system to watch the various room, the valuables, the crowds, etc.

As long as everything is being recorded at all times and that a separate password was used for Administrator Privileges such as turning off cameras/recording or deleting recordings this is probably not a big deal.

Was the Video System Compromised or Turned Off during the robbery ?? I have not heard that it was.
