They are starting to see a tiny bit with deep fake videos, but it is just the tip of the iceberg. The stuff I am seeing daily on the cyber attacks is crazy. The complexity of the attacks....

The irony of this link - bot generated content as is evident by the repetition in things you see - is that the premise is repeated at least three times before you get into the supporting details of the article.

So an article about proof the internet is dead because of the deluge of repetitive bot slop when the article's premise is itself repeated is too rich.

I'll add in a new post that the proliferation of AI garbage has been a ruse to monetize human to human internet traffic and remove your privacy.

Even before AI, people were faking crap left and right, it just took more effort. Now it takes a few keystrokes and clicks to make an AI video.

YouTube is filled with them now, and its funny they do nothing about it. In 2020, they nuked videos left and right for "misinformation." Now they actively promote it because it means more clicks and more $$$.

Here is a good example. They love to insert people like Anderson Cooper, Tucker, Rogan, and Hannity into the videos, but it is clearly AI. The headlines are so over the top that anyone with 2 functioning brain cells would know it is all bull*****

When my dad was a boy in Mississippi he learned about all of the Indians that had lived in the area. He was fascinated by the relics, carvings, and wall paintings that had been discovered by archeologists.

So... being fairly bright, a good artist, and prankster, he invented his own Indian tribe and set out carving various inscriptions and drawings on rock faces in the woods near his farm.

My wife got tricked into believeing something fake a couple of weeks ago. She figured it out and we discussed how easy it is to fool people.

Funny thing is I don't think our kids get fooled. It is mostly people who grew up without internet that get fooled. My kids are 14 and 17 and they can easily detect something fake.

That being said I never read comments anymore and don't go to FB or X or any of that. From what I hear AI ruined whatever value they may have at one time had.

Yes, but they are also now posting uncomfortable truths that used to be taboo. Think crime/demographics etc.

Used to not be able to mention certain facts or statistics or observable trends...esp after that pregnant woman robbing, dope dealing thug OD's on enough fent to kill an elephant. Hell, you can now call George Floyd exactly what I just called him and they leave it up. Used to be off limits, even though 100% true that he was a violent heartless POS who poisoned his own community.

Agreed. I"m shocked daily about what I see on IG now. It's almost as if Meta has just released IG into the wild and no one monitors it anymore. Feels like IG is just evolving on its own at this point.

I've used PhotoShop, After Effects, and Premiere extensively over the years so I developed an eye early on about what looks "right" and what doesn't. But a lot of folks out there just will not be able to if it gets any better at all.

There is already AI out there right now that no one could definitively say it's fake. For a lot of it, the only thing giving it away at this point is the context of the AI. The AI itself is indistinguishable from reality.

But, on the other hand........sex robots!

I don't care about the media so much as the flood of inane inaccurate generic information that friend out anything new, informative. And unique. I spend a miniature or two on some video before I can tell it is generic AI junk that is going to add nothing new to my knowledge and is going to be poorly repacked writing of huge numbers of very average at best writers and researchers

I didn't bother with putting speakers on my computer for a long time but finally relented around 2019 or 2020 and started listening to youtube occasionally.

Now, my general action if I think that something is likely using AI on youtube is to mark it as "do not recommend channel". It's aggravating that it only holds for a while and then they start appearing again.

I busted the first bot that passed the Turing test with one question:

"What is the difference between here and there?"

The bot failed miserably, pretty much had a melt down and did not understand the answer I provided: "The letter 't'."

I posed the same question to ChatGPT and it arrived at the correct answer very quickly by asking the right questions.

My daughter is writing her essays with an essay coach. She wrote the essays on her own. The coach asked her to run it by an AI detector and it says 64% AI! WTF?

I tested my own writing on different topics and it says befween 30% to 70% AI. Colleges may just do what they do with resumes, run the essays through some AI crap model and ding students based on the score without even looking at it.
