Just read a thing on Facebook about David (Pink Floyd) Gilmour's wife Romany. Well and properly written. Lists her parents, birthplace, etc.

Only problem is that Romany Gilmour is David Gilmour's daughter and all of the supposed back story is entirely made up.

It's getting bad.

The theory/fact. Most of the messaging (and other traffic) on the internet is now bots/AI, not people.

The people posting on say X, are not people, but bots.

This is really bad news for progressing AI, because garbage in, garbage out.

I scroll on X more than I should and I notice that a large percent of the posts are repeats or just bot junk posts for engagement.

I'd be happy if people without an ag tag aren't allowed to start threads here and severely limit daily posting allowances.

Instagram is certainly its version of dead internet. 99% of my feed is AI or ads. I no longer see posts from friends. Not sure if they still post at all.

I was the first Russian bot on this site. The OG. All others are imposters.

We've been too stupid to require flagging or meta data marking of all AI generated content. Now it is rapidly contaminating our body of actual legitimate knowledge and human works. The problems are many, but the first is its unattributed use of source data or IP without attribution or compensation is unethical if not unlawful in some cases. Then its desire to please and appeal to users to generate continued use leads it to take liberties with accuracy and validity to get to the conclusion it determines will best satisfy the user.

You can see boatloads of AI generated crap online in short documentary videos with very generic language using grandiose descriptions, sort of topical but incoherent images and video clips, and particularly AI generated imagery, and AI narration, usually with some sort of vaguely European accent.

Then there's all the lifted content where they strip some content from a celebrity or lecturer or speaker or another video and apply a strong artistic filter and rearrange it slightly and then repackage that as if it were unique content and apply descriptors that get it prioritized in searches,basically ripping off the work of others to skim a bit of income.

The rate of accumulation of this AI slop is increasing so quickly that users will soon get lost in it or abandon trying to find quality content.

I've already stopped using AI solely for internet search. Probably back to 50/50. Can't trust the AI yet. Keep getting obvious errors with the AI.

I deleted my LinkedIn page because I kept getting random "hey how are you doing" messages from colleagues via LinkedIN DM. I'd text via phone them a response and they wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about.

Got to love a chat bot hacking to give the appearance that there are more users than there are in reality......

They are starting to see a tiny bit with deep fake videos, but it is just the tip of the iceberg. The stuff I am seeing daily on the cyber attacks is crazy. The complexity of the attacks....
