How is this different than when the U.S. Navy sends destroyers through the South China Sea on freedom of navigation operations? Are they "morons" because they might provoke China by doing something legal?

And for further information, at one point he tries to say that he did it with the Navy earlier.

Obviously, many of you know that access to military bases is tightly controlled and only at certain checkpoints. They're not sauntering up any building of consequence at Mayport or NAS Jacksonville. And, those areas are slightly more residential/commercial. There's a Target shopping center on the other side of the fence from the main runway at NAS JAX. There's a restaurant right outside the main gate at Mayport.

There's also two schools within walking distance of that main gate, but I don't see where these guys were telling JSO about walking by those (if they went to NS Mayport).

Both things can be true. The guys filming can be idiots, as can the FBI agents. I am generally not a fan of these type of stunts, but that reaction by the FBI was ridiculous.

Those are giant ****ing douchbags just trying to get attention. We get you can open carry but you walk around an FBI office with all that's going on with ICE right now and they got exactly what they wanted.

If they are such defenders of the Bill of Rights, let's see them go into a minority neighborhood on a Saturday night and exercise their First Amendment right to yell racial slurs.

I think there was a recent court ruling in Florida allowing this, hence the sudden burst of auditor videos. Jeff Gray has now added open carry to his routine, though he is less confrontational than the guys here.

It is certainly his right, but I don't like Jeff's videos as much now that he has turned into an open carry advocate. I felt he was really accomplishing something with his videos and freedom of speech, but now I am afraid he will simply dismissed as a troll like these guys.

Jeff Gray is the best. Though I kind of agree about him now carrying. It's only been in a couple of videos so maybe he will let it go.

But he is the king.

lol at the F16 posters who all of a sudden argue that rights aren't important anymore. Who gives a **** if you don't believe the guy was doing something smart? That's such a lazy argument and on par with "she shouldn't have been wearing that short skirt." Even better is the poster who implied the guy's Boston accent somehow makes him less deserving of being able to do something legal.

Who gives a damn if you don't like open carry or think it's stupid? It's legal. Other dumbasses don't like concealed carry, so by your logic they should be able to keep you from doing that. If you don't understand how stupid and illogical you sound, there's really no fixing that. Keep on with your idiocy that only the speech you deem smart is ok. You should make a whole new thread with that exact argument - only acceptable speech is legal.

One person said open carry is bad.

Exercise all the rights you want. Do it responsibly.
Pedestrians have the right of way; I wouldn't recommend walking in front of an 18-wheeler.'

And if you're referring to my mention of his accent, I was saying that it was one of many things that are out of place and unexpected in the situation.

If you can't freely exercise a right without harassment or punishment from the government, it's not a right.

If government agents do not respect and recognize your rights and go unpunished for violating them, you don't have them.

The onus is not on citizens to not provoke ignorant and incompetent agents of the government. It is on the agents of the government not to be ignorant and incompetent. If they can't do the job professionally, then they shouldn't do it all.

Morons with 2A rights. County/City handled things damn cool. The FBI fellas maybe not so much.

Dude with the camera over talks and is not the individual that needs to make these videos.

What would be the video to watch would be a stream cast of an FBI/Local/2A Citizen (not that fella). Have the show watch that video and discuss.

Let's say 2A fella with the reticles on his center mass had an involuntary muscle reaction to an itch on his nose and like the Cody Jinks song became WASTED. I bet 90% of our good guys would say FAFO.

Open carry is f'ing stupid.

Open carry right in front of federal LE building right now in this political climate is straight brainrot nonsense. But they'll get the clicks they are looking for I guess.

Agreed 100% with your last statement, just a stupid game to play. But I'd probably open carry more if others did...just for comfort reasons. I will admit, I'm a little embarrassed to stand out in that manner with no one else doing it. I think I have seen 2 people, max, open carrying in the greater Houston area since it became legal.

I don't buy the whole "you'll be the first they take out if they know you have a gun" angle...but I am aware of my surroundings at all times. Now someone like my wife, or the avg woman? Maybe.

That's pistols though...I would never open carry a rifle or PCC in the grocery store or restaurant...if you see me doing that, society has all but collapsed and it is out of necessity.

Agree completely. I wouldn't open carry in front of FBI agents because I know how they would react, especially in today's environment. But the fact of the matter is that open carry is legal in that jurisdiction, and the agents must at least have the professionalism to find out what's going on before threatening to take the guy down.

Here's a video from the Civil Rights Lawyer YouTube channel. The guy was holding up the handle of a gas pump to let the clerk inside know to turn it on, so he could pump gas. The crazy cop thought that the pump handle was a gun. Okay, I don't understand how he could have mistaken it for a gun, but I'll accept that as true - mistakes can be made. But his reaction - instead of just going over and verifying it, or even asking the guy what he was doing - he points his gun, his actual gun at him and screams at him to drop the gas handle. Any moron could see by that point that it wasn't a gun, but the cop is so consumed with power that the innocent guy at the gas pump has to comply.

Training them specifically for auditors is treating the symptom. They look like idiots because they are idiots. If they knew the law they were supposed to be enforcing and the rights they are supposed to respect and protect, they wouldn't have an issue.

Yep. If you or I were incompetent enough to do that, it would be brandishing and potentially assault. When a cop does it it's just being bad at their job, which creates an awkward paradox where the bar for criminality is lower for an everyday civilian than a trained professional.

So would knowing the law they are supposed to enforce. I mean it's pretty basic. Saying it's ok for a cop not to know the law is like saying it's ok for an engineer not to know math.

I'm sure you know this since you watch TCRL, but a lot of the issue is the training LE is getting.

This company has been huge over the last few years at training some aggressive borderline illegal tactics

https://www.streetcoptraining.com/

They've been banned in 9 states over the last year.

They broke the international law of basic decency and common sense. These guys initiated an unnecessary FAFO scenario. They went looking for trouble and caused unnecessary stress on people that don't really need the extra stress right now. They are lucky they didn't immediately get rewarded with the FO part that they deserved.

Nah you know nothing about me. I have respect for the law AND the Americans that have to enforce it. Maybe you need to consider that doing something that is within our rights to do doesn't always make it the right thing to do nor respectful of the people that have to deal with these jackass stunts.. These guys don't do anything for legal gun owners and they shouldn't be celebrated by 2nd amendment advocates. They are just selfish asshats looking for clicks. There's nothing patriotic or otherwise redeeming about this stunt.

What's worse was rather than admit he screwed up, he won't let it go. He makes the gas pump bandit wait while he runs the guy's ID, then goes to his car and acts like he is about to drive off. But then he decides to double down.

He goes in the store to question the clerk about the guy. Does he come here often? Does he make trouble? It turns out the guy comes there every day to get gas, and he's friends with the clerk. The cop was looking for any and every reason to detain or arrest the guy in order to justify his stupid actions. Well I mistook the gas pump handle for a gun, but it turns out he was a bad guy anyway (he wasn't). Good thing I'm such a jerk.
