Open carry test on sidewalk in front of Jacksonville FBI office does not go well. Agent aims rifle at a cameraman and open carrier with his hands up and threatens to kill both of them.

No sympathy for the a**holes who were there simply to provoke and make a video. They created the potential threat and failed to be reasonable. The officials attempted to deescalate while also remaining in a defensive although justifiably aggressive position.

Open carry is f'ing stupid.

Open carry right in front of federal LE building right now in this political climate is straight brainrot nonsense. But they'll get the clicks they are looking for I guess.

In refutation, they were legally carrying in a public space. The FBI should respect our fundamental liberties without threatening to KILL. If not, then do we really have them?

How did they fail to be reasonable? Expressed repeatedly that they were no threat, armed individual had his hands in the air, and at no time were on FBI property. Bringing out the Bearcat is deescalation?

I support anyone who is legally exercising our American liberties, even provocateurs or 'agitators'. They did NOTHING illegal, so why should they be threatened with death?

These provocateurs wanted a reaction and the FAFO. These provocateurs trying to get TikTok views and YouTube views are playing with fire. They had no other purpose to pull this in front of the FBI office than to illicit a reaction. This game is out of control and does more harm to the 2nd amendment than anything. Its purpose is nonsensical.

I didn't say it was illegal.

I said they were morons.

It's also legal to stick a guitar wire into a live outlet.
You're still a moron if you do it.

I say push it into their faces. Force them to accept or react. If they react the law is on our side via the courts and people will get fired and understand that rights must be respected.

PressNHnow isn't a moron; he clearly understands his rights and actions. In a past video, when a police officer warned him he might get hurt filming in public, he said he accepted that riskeven deathto exercise his rights. That's patriotic. He may push boundaries for views, but the good outweighs the bad, imo.

Guess it's easy to say when others are doing it for you. On paper it sounds nice and neat. It's messy and dumb in real life though.

We need citizens to risk their lives and liberty to defend the rights that those who came before us fought for. I applaud them for taking the risk.

Hey if getting a rise out of the authorities or provoking a given response is your thing knock your lights out. If being some kind of martyr is your thing, go fo it. That's your right.

But consider this for a minute. Given the current environment of today, multiple assassination attempts on the POTUS and an an actual assassination of Charlie Kirk. Domestic violence running rampid all over, use a little common sense why don't you. Law enforcement agencies are on high alert across the nation. It's not like this is just happening. Remember Dallas in August 2024? Domestic terrorists ambushing LEOs all over the place. Common sense might be not to be pulling stunts like this in front of the FBI office or any LE Offices. Had these two provocateurs tried this in front of the local Tractor Supply or Home Depot or wherever they wouldn't have gotten the response they were seeking for their TikTok nonsense. There's plenty of videos out there where other provocateurs do the same routine on the street, and the local PD shows up, questions them and goes on about their business. Like I said before, use a little common sense. But if your goal is to wind up with a 5.56 to the noggin and some LEOs life to be ruined go for it. Just don't expect empathy because you chose to FAFO

This isn't doing any of that. Get real here. This is provoking a serious escalation in a very uneasy time with people engaging LE with firearms in ambush scenarios because of political rhetoric. In Florida of all places which already has its share of crazy.

This isn't defending or advancing any firearms related anything. This is just looking for extreme reactions to feed the algorithm. And you bought it completely.

Both things can be true. The guys filming can be idiots, as can the FBI agents. I am generally not a fan of these type of stunts, but that reaction by the FBI was ridiculous.

I think there was a recent court ruling in Florida allowing this, hence the sudden burst of auditor videos. Jeff Gray has now added open carry to his routine, though he is less confrontational than the guys here.

It is certainly his right, but I don't like Jeff's videos as much now that he has turned into an open carry advocate. I felt he was really accomplishing something with his videos and freedom of speech, but now I am afraid he will simply dismissed as a troll like these guys.

I hope 20 more 2A open carry supporters show up on "their" sidewalk tomorrow. If a plain clothed Leo showed up in front of my house or place of business and I jumped out with my rifle threatening to kill them I would be arrested, fired upon or both. People need to quit with the "this day and age" crap. Those officers have zero authority over people on the public sidewalk unless they're committing a crime.

I watch "First Amendment auditing" videos on YouTube, and while I think the guys who aim cameras at private individuals are mostly d-bags, I can't help but respect them for spreading awareness about the Bill of Rights and for keeping cops honest. Like a lot of things in life, if we don't use it, we lose it.

...

No it's really not - for reasons many don't understand. It's not to protect peoples rights to parade around waving guns in the air. It's important so that folks who do carry concealed don't get arrested for "flashing".

Quote:

Flashing refers to the unintentional display of a concealed firearm, where the gun becomes visible to others, potentially causing alarm or legal issues. It's important for concealed carry holders to ensure their firearm remains hidden to avoid such situations.

For example: In New York if you have a concealed carry permit, and you are carrying, if anyone can even detect the outline of your gun they can report you. It's a serious problem as activists could/would report people they assumed were carrying and claim they were "flashing" with brandishing charges.

Open carry eliminates this problem.

For a little context, I'm from Jacksonville. I've driven by the local FBI office countless times. There's not much of significance in the neighborhood: apartment complexes across the street, some commercial buildings, but few that are going to have a flow of customers going through the doors. (Edit: when they originally built the FBI building, it was the only structure around. All the other buildings and apartments came years later.)

So when an unknown person parks across the street, walks across the street towards the FBI building with two hands on his rifle (call it a "collapsed low ready" position), is wearing what could look like tactical gear… every LEO in the world is going to have their hands on their own weapons.

In case you haven't been to our area much outside of the TaxSlayer Bowl a few years ago, we don't have folks with accents like that guy's. And, as roughhewn as we may be, we generally don't repeatedly yell "**** you" at LEOs. At least, when sober.

To summarize: out of town strangers, in a place where there isn't much foot traffic, holding rifles, going towards an FBI building, and cursing at them when confronted.

And then bordering on uncooperative with local law enforcement when they arrive.

I'm just a guy from Jacksonville. I don't have any authority to tell them what to do. But I would respectfully (at first) ask that they stop with the foolishness and go home, very quickly.
