It's a cultural group acceptance thing; if believe you can't be attractive, be weird and unconventional and find the subculture that collectively values that and adopt their cultural norms. That's what these unusual types do. Instead of working to be in a social hierarchy based on attractiveness or accomplishment or whatever, it is based on degree of body modifications or body art and how extreme you are willing to go to flaunt norms.

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully she'll grow out of it. I hope the daughter you raised comes back to you. Truly.

Had a friend who had two daughters and a son, no problems with the daughters. The son got into drugs in college at A&M, kicked out, got to the point where at one point he was kicked out of their house because he would not change his ways after they tried everything, but apparently finally got clean and got his life in order They are amazing people, raised all their children the same way. It can just happen. Drugs, indoctrination, bad friends, you name it.
