Yup and then blamed this diet on his addiction to benzos. He also flew to Russia because no self respecting American doctor would agree to his self proposed treatment for his benzo addiction which included putting him into a medically induced coma until his withdrawals had subsided, which had easily foreseeable disastrous consequences that lead to numerous complications.

He and his daughter had severe food allergies and it got to the point that the only thing that cleared up all of those reactions was a carnivore diet. That doesn't make him a nutjob. Carnivore diets work quite well for a lot of people.

You can literally live off of nothing but medium rare meat, because that is literally what you are made of.

I had a daughter that had an unknown severe food allergy that popped up at 16, and her nutritionist pulled everything that is a common allergy completely out of her diet. When that didn't work, he prescribed her to eat only 3 things for 30 days:

1) Medium rare beef
2) Salt
3) Bottled or home distilled water

After re-introducing things, we came to the conclusion that it was a combination allergy of a couple of different things together, and if she just cut one of them out completely, she always felt better. But, we wouldn't have gotten there without cutting all the way to the bone first.

That is so interesting. What was the primary culprit?

The list of 3 is a bit surprising because salt seems so condemned for heart issues (aged relative has been told ot lay off it entirely) . Is Medium rare just how is listed, or are you implying cooking it more does harm? Insufficiently cooked meat always seemed dicey.

We cut gluten out of her diet, and it works. She still rolls the dice sometimes, and sometimes it hurts her, and sometimes it doesn't. Pizza and spaghetti always kill her though, so it might be something to do with gluten and nightshades or gluten and a lot of vitamin C.

As for medium rare beef, there are some vitamins that start to denature quickly at around 140 degrees, including C and some of the B vitamins. Cooking to 130 or so prevents most of this. There is enough C in medium rare beef to keep you healthy. Not enough in well-cooked hamburger meat.

An interesting story is that we somehow lost the cure for scurvy after Pasteur, even though we knew it was citrus all the way back to the early 1700s. There were studies that some ranchers had lived decades on nothing but beef, and the world of science decided that ALL disease was related bacteria, so citrus had to do something to kill bacteria in the mouth if someone could live off beef alone. Of course, the reason for this is that beef DOES have vitamin C in it, about as much as human muscles do in order to make energy (thanks Krebs!). This misinterpretation of the science of disease contributed to the tragedy of the Terra Nova South Pole expedition, as they had abandoned citrus in favor of pasteurization of food to cure scurvy. Which leads me to believe we should follow the scientific method when it comes to biology, because it is so damn complicated, that making assumptions about why something may or may not work based on deduction fails miserably all the time. Clinical data and the scientific method are the only reliable things when you are toying with something as complicated as human biology, of which we know less than Uma Thurman did about Kung Fu when she first met Pai Mei.

As for salt, your body needs it for neurons to work. Salt is not dangerous to anyone with normal or lower blood pressure. An interesting fact about salt is that diets all over the world tend to have about 2-3 grams of salt consumed per day. Not enough salt in beef alone to keep your brain working right. A lack of salt in your diet leads to hunger cravings, and makes portion control tough.

Thanks for that. Very educational and informative.

Now I see why the cooking makes the difference, that is, robs the meat of some of its vitamin potential. On the salt --- its implied then, that it is bad for high blood pressure cases? That would explain the prohibiting of it.

As for the bold -- didn't know they DID NOT use the scientific method for biology! Now much tomfoolery makes sense....

Well, we still haven't learned that lesson. I was told that the mRNA vaccine would never lead to cases where a person's immune system is still generating spike proteins for more than 6 weeks due to, well reasons.

Guess what? 740 days later, and still a significant minority of cases where this is true.

Some researchers say that this couldn't be anticipated? Arrogant *******s who should have and probably did know better. I anticipated it. Human biology is hard.

Ok, derail over. Sending prayers to the Peterson family this morning. We really need his voice.

Yep, like many of our ancestors (but probably not yours), many people go on this thing called "the carnivore diet" and actually report impressive results. Apparently him and his daughter did it and it cleared up their chronic auto-immune problems.

But yeah, they should probably be more like your fellow democrat peeps filling up their grocery carts with hot junk food and red soda. You see, that's totally normal.

Check out @steakandbuttergal on instagram who switched to carnivore diet and has reported and documented impressive results. I mix in veggies but am very happy with my results eating a meat dominant diet. Wish I had made the change much sooner. Want to get shredded, this is the way.

The food pyramid is a scam. Don't listen to any doctor who tells you to stay away from red meat or that you need super los cholesterol to be healthy.

Yep, but believing men can get pregnant and chestfeed doesn't. We should probably just ignore the clown....he's lonely and bitter. Increasingly so.

It's way more fun to pile onto people that post stupid crap that should be ridiculed.

And to be clear, I am all about ridiculing stupid crap, not directly ridiculing the people that post it. That is a very important distinction.

One thing though --- have observed and even experienced there seems to be a correlation between insufficiently cooked (too red) meat and a bout of food poisoning. Is this just illusion, or what is going on?

Probably bad/old meat. I don't know that I have ever gotten this from red meat, but definitely have from both chicken and sushi and I never want to go through that again.

I typically agree but that particular poster hates all of us. Constantly lashing out and has been for years on here.

Hope he becomes a Christian before it is too late.

It is not enough to intellectually know that Christ was the Son of God.

Yes, sushi was a definite culrpit! Much fish seems problematical. Okay, so maybe bad/old meat. Might have to test the notion more.

The inside of a piece of meat, if well stored before cooking, is basically sterile.

The outside of the piece of meat is not.

You need to get the outside of a piece of meat hot, about 165 degrees for 5 minutes, and you should be good.

Your observations are likely due to improper handling where raw food touched food to be served either through hands, utensils or other surfaces.
