Herbstreit had to throw a ball through the uprights to give $300k to a young black female chemical engineering student at Bama because she "had never kicked a ball in her life".

First, she wanted to do a standing kick with no run up. Then with a run up, the ball never gets more than 3 feet off the ground and went about 3 yards.

So they completely changed the game and had Herbstreit throw the ball through the uprights for her and still gave her $300K.

Charlie Kirk is smiling really big right now...the case in point of DEI.

Is it bc she's black or bc she was really fat and had no chance to make it anyways?

Not really DEI if a rich man gives away his own money in the form of charity.

Why even have them kick a ball? Why not just draw a students name and then give them the money?

They have been doing this segment all year, what about the kids that didn't get the money?

It's his money and if he wants to us it as a tax write-off in the form of a contest. That's his right.

But I don't think he does the same gesture if that's a white guy making the kick. That's what OP has an issue with. I think.

The whole "contest" is better if the contestant can actually fail.

Halifax hooked a lot of fish with this troll. Well done.

(Has to be a troll because no real person would be bothered by someone doing an act of goodwill )

Why are you viewing this young lady primarily through a racial lens.

Kirk would probably say that of the things you described her as: a young female chemical engineering student that is black, her race is the least important of the attributes you used to describe her.

If you see this is primarily a woke gesture, you should probably think a bit about why her race was the most important thing about her to you.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

I mean, they could have made it for a trillion dollars for her and a bonding company would have charged $50 to cover it. Maybe the first 0.00% chance of something in history. I was surprised he still said 300k for Kirk to throw it. I would think he would say 25k or 50k cause there was a very low probability he wasn't gonna make that throw. At least I would think Pat had to be thinking that, even though it barely clearly the uprights. But yes, he thought she was really nice and so decided to pony up and got burned, but dont' think you can label this DEI.

Honestly that segment is stupid, they should make a requirement that you can at least kick a ball

The fat white kid from OU was ridiculed on the lead up to him kicking. Kirk and Pat were just teasing the hell out of him and then he nailed it.

They just wouldn't have done that to a black girl. She could also select someone to kick for her if she wanted.

I swear some of yall are terminally bitter at the world and nothing will ever change that.

It's just sad to see in today's world, this is what you choose to spend your care on.

Honest question, and I guess no one here really has any way of knowing...

Is it Pat's personal cash or is ESPN or some other sponsor actually backing it?

The young lady's morbid obesity was the primary reason she couldn't kick the ball. That aside, she was offered to choose someone else to kick for her, I guess because girls can't kick. That's makes the show misogynist too....now I'm trolling.

My point before had nothing to do with generosity, skin color or anything other than the FG game should be won on merit. I really don't care if they are green haired, purple skinned trannies, makes no difference, but keep the game honest and that means some people are going to lose. That was the point I was making about DEI, don't move the goal posts for anyone for any reason.

The ENTIRE bit is centered around people that don't kick field goals saying "it's so easy how can they miss it". The most common people saying that are soccer players and many of them have missed it in the past or needed multiple kicks.

Pat has repeatedly said it's his money.

DEI is not the absence of meritocracy. It has a very specific meaning. Nobody moved goalposts. You defined them quite clearly from the beginning with your own terminology in the title. That's on you.

He has said it's his in the past.

The dude is loaded now but also very giving. He does all sorts of charities all the time. He might be a Brotard, but he also seems to be a decent human being as well once off the air.

A number of different people been clear that it really is Pat's cash. I think he views it as marketing for his brand and I think he gets his money's worth.

As for the rules, as others have pointed out, they repeatedly change the rules to help the kicker. If I was a really good field goal kicker and was selected, I would badly miss the first kick because he seems to always up the stakes for a second (or third attempt).
