...who happens to be an Aggie and a 37 year veteran of the company. Not a DEI hire, in my opinion. Well qualified for the position. Your thoughts?

From a credentials standpoint I'm sure she's plenty qualified for the job, but that doesn't really tell us anything about how she intends to lead or what she intends to prioritize or deprioritize.

She's spent more years at HEB than half this board has been alive. By hiring an inside lifer, the board's intent is probably hiring someone who will keep things just they are.

My opinion from observation and working at HEB over 25 years ago, is that HEB gives lip service to DEI. You don't get your job if you suck at meeting goals and requirements. And when you don't meet your goals and requirements you are moved out and rarely promoted.

I worked with Roxanne many years ago. She is quiet, laid-back, observant, and isn't afraid to let you know where you stand with her.

I couldn't be happier for her. H-E-B is in good hands.

And there you have it, the poison of DEI. If someone is not a white male, people tend to default to questioning their qualifications.

I'm not aware that HEB is big on DEI, so I'll default to it being a good hire.

Well I was working in the area during my time at A&M the summer. So I took pics of all places that I frequented just for the memory. I have many more that are not relevant to this thread.

Would it worry you to know that it is more complicated than that? Stores (not just HEB) track the cell phone data of who is shopping when and align the music with the favored playlists from people that shop at those times.

I found this out during COVID when they had a mask policy, but never enforced it. Karens on Nextdoor were livid.
