As AI stops using Reddit as a source the number of "users" drops, as the numbers of "users" drop so does the stock.

I've been fighting the A=A battle over there for the last decade. The suppression of common sense and the proliferation of ultra-left echo chambers will be the death of what was once a great website.

I would bet that much like X a lot of their "traffic" is driven by bots/content farms. The whole thing has this weird vibe as a house of cards.

Wherever AI gets its information, there goes the "traffic". There will always be a concerted effort to influence what information people get.

The issue is that Political discussion seeps into pretty much every subreddit. If Reddit is going to survive, it needs to enforce a ban on political debate on subreddits that aren't specifically or tangentially political.

If I'm looking at art, I don't need to read partisan comments about politics.

I used to view Reddit for /jokes and /humor to get away from politics.
The most upvoted threads were viciously anti-Trump and weren't even funny.

That was the end of reddit for me.

Democrats ruin everything. Reddit, ESPN, PBS, Late Night TV...

They also locked api's down behind ludicrous paywalls to force users onto their crappy app instead of superior 3rd party apps.

Antifa going into hiding causing prolific drop in user activity.

So their "user" growth has been primarily bots scraping their site for content?

Yeah I use it for some things like sports and entertainment for specific shows for example. Most of the politics do not infiltrate those. There are some decent discussion boards for those.

Theyre all political boards. "Pics" subs are political (read "leftist") pics. Economics subs are all about "eat the rich". Inflations subs blame it all on conservative politics. Maps subs are mostly political maps. Even hometown subs are just updates on the latest Gaza or trans rights protests.

They're all basement dwellers barely holding on to their last two nickels and yet they're somehow still experts who think they have it all figured out.

It's a pretty easy pattern to observe. Once you see it, you can't unsee it… it's a bunch of bleeding heart do-nothing, know-nothings who blame their lack of success on people that have nothing to do with them instead of making their own way. They don't understand economics and most of their political philosophy revolves around jealousy of rich people, discounting that they'd probably be republicans themselves if they weren't broke.

I have subs that I follow, but a lot start to slip and I have to leave them eventually. The College Football one is the most sane forum I have seen. I then just follow hobby stuff like woodworking and BBQ.

I keep reading similar comments on Reddit. To me this is like saying I like buying my American-made Chevrolet from the same dealership that is flooding the market with rusty Yugos.

There are plenty of other legit places to get good information/discussion than Reddit.

I've wondered how much of their traffic is driven by learning bots or chat bots.

The local sub has so many repeat threads of "tell me what you like about Houston" or "what are your Top 10 favorite _____ " that just look like fodder for another AI content article. And enough real users like to feel important and influential that they get lots of replies no matter how many times the same topics come up.

I literally don't see other places (outside texags) to discuss shows/movies/sports/etc.

Quora is not discussions I see it pop up in search results occasionally.

I don't know of anywhere else other than comments on specific articles where thye are publishd and thats not a collective community at all.

For example I visit the reddit Beatles pages quite a bit. No politics at all that I have seen. Just a lot of discussion about the music, remixes, special editions, fan creations, posting playlists, some talk about lyrics or covers, etc. Where else would I find that?

Or the Only Murders in the Building reddit is another I'm currently following.

Clearly I'm on here.. but to be hones the entertainment board is lacking.

In movies, too much talk about MCU and DCU and Star Wars. I enjoy those but have a lot of other interests. And a lot of Disney bashing no matter the topic which devolves into politics too often.

Occasionally a TV show board will be interesting - like the GOT one back in the day and the HotD one when it is airing. The Stranger Things one was not bad either in previous seasons. The Only Murders talk has completely died out. Seems like it has to be a very intriguing and perhaps polarizing show to engender discussion - the True Detective talk was good back then and the Mare of Easttown was ok.

I see a lot more responses and a lot more interesting talk (and bogus theories) on reddit to discuss about shows.

And for music, very little in the way of in depth talk about any musical artists on here.

I am on the new shows and new movie threads just to get notified of new trailers which shows me what is coming up.

I got my 2 accounts banned.

Then I thought I'd create a new one with my other gmail account but they found out and banned my 3rd acc right away. I think they found out from the cookies. I have to clean it up before I create another one. Or use a different browser. I don't think they ban IPs because I was able to create a 2nd acc.

My first acc was banned because some chick got into Stanford and was boasting about it on some "college results" group and I asked her what her stats were and they were mediocre (way below my son's) and so I asked her about other things and it came out that she was a refugee from some country escaping strife. So female + refugee got her in, so I said that causing a meltdown and a ban.

Everyone on TA are old farts like us/ Gen X to Boomers. A few years ago we have folks who graduated in 1944! But they sadly have passed away.

The young kids are on other platforms. As old farts become older farts, traffic will reduce. Politics is going strong only because Trump is actually doing work unlike that half dead Biden.
