All I know is that my liberal friends on FB were ooohing and ahhhing over the show, talking about how moving and emotional it was -- even though they couldn't understand the words.

LOL.

It is funny how many of my Liberal friends thought it was the greatest thing ever.
I'm certain they never heard of Bad Bunny more than 5 months ago.
But... talking points are out and they must comply.

Apparently the latest talking point is that this wasn't about celebrating Puerto Rico but it was about making "brown kids" feel OK.

I'd love to know how many "brown kids" play dominoes and live next to a sugar cane field with unreliable power infrastructure.

As far as moving and emotional, they're never going to be able to top U2 after 9/11.

It hilarious watching them bend over backward praising what was mediocre at best. Same with the politicians. Must have told them in a weekly newsletter to get in social media and praise it afterwards.

Glad I shielded my daughter from it and she didn't have to see two males pecker-grinding each other next to a truck. The NFL knows that millions of children are watching this annual supposedly "family friendly" event with their parents right?

He's not black, nor Asian, so.....

Bingo

I've always thought it hilarious how Spanish Europeans in the Americas as considered indigenous or POC. I have darker skin than many of my Hispanic friends from Columbia, Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico and my family came over from England prior to the Revolutionary War on both sides. A LOT of people from Latin America are far more racist when it comes to skin color and heritage than Americans and many Spanish families don't mix that blood. They are also more likely to come to the US because they tend to have the wealth.

One of the most frustrating things to me about anything race related is people don't ask the simple question of what qualifies someone to be of a certain race. For instance if you are black does that mean you are 80%? 50%? 10%? The old laws used to be "one drop" back in Jim Crow. For instance Kamala had an Indian Mother and a mulatto father and was no more than 25% black. So is she black? If being black is a disadvantage as we are told then why didn't she claim to be Indian since she was far more Indian? Obama was also half white and never really even knew his father while being raised by his white mother and grandparents for the most part, why wouldn't he claim to be white since being black is such a disadvantage and oppressing?

Race is such a stupid measure. BTW, one of the most successful immigrant groups in the US are Nigerian Christians who tend to be some of the darkest skinned people in the world.

I would love to have just one reporter read off some Bad Bunny lyrics from this show to Amy and have her explain what parts she liked the best.

Meh, I thought the show was pretty good. I have low expectations for Super Bowl performances, even if it's a performer I like. I didn't know any of his songs but thought the production was cool.

I learned a long time ago that I had aged out (or raced out) of being the target audience for much of the entertainment world.

It was frustrating at first, because I remember the days of watching the Grammys and Emmys and rooting for my favorites to win. And I missed that.

But I really don't care anymore.

At the same time ...

I DO think the NFL and other entertainment institutions continue to shoot themselves in the foot with their pandering and the general coarsening of these cultural touchstones.

I saw some of Bad Bunny's lyrics translated, and supposedly he edited himself, but if I was a Spanish-speaking father I would not want my kids hearing that at halftime, or any time, really.

It's clear these boomer liberals praising Bad Bunny have no idea what he really sings about. Or maybe they do and just think it's "culturally enriching."

It's entirely possible to have an entertaining, modern show without degradation, sexual imagery and raw language. Isn't it?

That is hilarious, and exactly what a family member did, posting "I stand with Bad Bunny" on his Facebook.

In his 70s, nice guy, political dumbass.
if he really stands with bad bunny and supports love not hate message,I'm sure he has condemned all the lefties celebrating assassination ? Seems like that is would an easy message to line up behind.

The average person doesn't know why the halftime show for SB goes and gets the biggest artist now. It was actually because "In Living Color" stole the majority their Audience in '92. They didnt want a repeat. Prompting them to get Michael Jackson.

Just a click of a remote away, "In Living Color," which aired on Sundays, dangled its organic connection to youth culture and hip-hop in front of Super Bowl halftime viewers. And they took the bait. The Keenen Ivory Wayans-created series that ran for five seasons, from 1990 until 1994, captured nearly 28.9 million live viewers (including many who weren't previously watching the big game), according to Nielsen. The counterprogramming snagged about 11.7% of the 79.5 million average viewers of CBS' Super Bowl.

No. Effing. Sheet. Here here.

This has been my position on the issue. Not everything deserves a response.

That's the part worth lingering on. We now live in an ecosystem where boredom is intolerable and neutrality is suspicious. Everything has to be a fight. Every cultural artifact must be processed through a partisan lens or it feels wasted. A halftime show cannot just exist. It has to offend, affirm, threaten, or redeem.

The saddest part is how joyless this all feels.

This can be extrapolated to just about everything in the public at this point.

This didn't suck…pretty cool.

That was pretty awesome.

Especially in 2026 as sad as this is to say but, it was a marriage of a man and a woman. Could have easily been substituted in for something else. Especially with all the pre-show narratives floating around.

The one that was the funniest was people saying Bad Bunny was going to perform in a dress, when he'd said nothing about that.

I even was sent a fake AI image of him in a rainbow dress burning an American flag Sunday morning before the game to let me know that by supporting Bad Bunny, I was supporting someone who hates America.

Naturally, it took 2 seconds on the Internet to figure out that it was a fake pic.

I agree with you on the two dudes by the truck.

Honestly, in 2026, I'm thankful that that's all it was. Could have easily been much worse.

And frankly, the NFL halftime shows haven't been family friendly since before Janet Jackson debuted her jewelry.

Haha, I went to the more "diverse" Kroger to the south of our house here in Cypress during halftime. I walked past a packed Daiquiri bar that was hosting a Superbowl party and I could see that Bad Bunny was performing. I passed by 4-5 black dudes who were standing outside just clowning on Bad Bunny and it was hilarious.

Manly dudes aren't down with this fruity gender fluid raggaeton crap...or whatever you call this music.

Tragically, my white guilt FB friends are non-stop virtue signalling about how great Bad Bunny's performance was for "brown people" and it just shows how evil Trump is.

Like seriously folks... it was a dude from Puerto Rico playing a genre of music from Puerto Rico surrounded by a set made up to look like a sugar cane field in Puerto Rico.

It wasn't the MLK "I Have a Dream" speech or something.

Yet somehow... the media (on both sides) has to politicize everything.

I blame Steve Jobs and AT&T for putting an iPhone in everybody's hand ("for free") and making people think they're smart by getting clicks and likes for parroting whatever their team tells them the answer is.

At this point, I have no idea how it ends unless there was a way to limit screen time per day - for adults.

In case anyone is interested here is the the English translation of the show. Not horrible but definitely started off very sexual and ended very political. Bleeped out some of the curse words where he talks about how the girl from Barcelona likes his d and such. Ricky Martin was talking about how people need to keep their flags and essentially push back on America so they aren't colonized like Hawaii. The end message was very clearly about how the "Continent" of America (though there are 2 but whatever) is blessed by God and went out of his way to diminish the US as just another country at most. The stagecraft and choreography was good even if it had a lot of twerking, crotch grabbing, and has one couple simulating sex in the truck.

Just has nothing to do with the Super Bowl or their primary audience just like Kendrick Lamarr last year. It's just more attempts at trying to ruin something that has traditionally brought people together and instead to divide them. People just want to have fun and be entertained while watching a football game but instead we get this hyper sexualized crap mixed in with a political message from some dude that appears to have an IQ of about 80 but he can dance and is good looking (he can't sing either, if you really want some entertainment you should hear some clips of him without autotune but be forewarned your ears can only take a few seconds of it).
