My family has been cotton farmers for at least 3 generations that I know of.

She is being intentionally ignorant and selectively offended

It's a plant for Pete's sake. It's still grown on 10.000,000 acres in the US alone

Wonder if she'd have the same reaction to a cocoa plant, hops, MJ, corn, etc. Those have killed 1000s of times more black people than cotton plants

I picked cotton working with my grandfather and uncle from age 6 to mid-teens around Donna, Texas. I loved it, but I was a slave. My father kept all my pay….and, yes, he beat me, too, when he deemed it necessary. Drew blood lines on my ass and upper back thighs.

If times get tough, my beloved Mom taught me to pick cotton at first light. The dew will make it weigh more. Her dad was a sharecropper in Denton County and she was born on someone else's farm. She was not allowed to bring the eggs to the front door of the master's house....spoiler alert, she was white!
