I did a little bit of a dive into the "all the extremist violence is from the right" claim.
The ADL has a study where they say that every extremist murder in 2024 was committed by someone connected to far right ideology.
When they list the murders…
1. Killed his half brother because he thought he informed on him to the police.
2. Total nutjob in a militia (of which he was the only member) who killed and decapitated his father.
3. Predator who killed an 11 year old girl.
4. Beat a man to death stemming from an earlier dispute.
5. Two inmates killed several people while escaping from prison.
6. Sovereign citizen weirdos ambushed a woman and a child welfare worker who were coming to take custody of children.
7. Anti government types who ambushed LEOs
8. Violent criminal killed a man before moving on to commit other crimes.
9. Sovereign citizen approached and killed LEO.
10. Skinhead brutally murdered a man camping in the woods.
11. White supremacist gang member sets fire to a home over a custody issue, and then crashes into another car while fleeing, killing one person.
To be clear, any murder is heinous, and many of these are a step beyond.
But when extremist murder is the talking point, they're just talking extremists who committed murder, and ignoring the reasons and motivations.
Conversely, if someone had no ties to any extremist ideology, yet committed a crime that the average person would think is politically/ideologically motivated, it would not be counted under their criteria. For example, the UHC murder? Not extremist homicide.
