Thought we should have an update on the bi-annual government shutdown "crisis". https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/government-shutdown-gop-spending-bill-1681b711?st=ZYWbmA&reflink=article_copyURL_share

The House barely passed a stopgap measure to fund the government until late November. And then the Senate defeated it. Rand and Murkowski voted against it and Fetterman, who continues to confuse everyone, voted for it. Eight or so Republicans didn't even bother to show up and vote so it had no shot in passing.

Dems are demanding $1 Trillion in spending be added back to the stopgap measure or we shut down the government.

I fully expect the Republicans to cave to Democrat demands.

I call bull on the Rs in the Senate just caving to the Dems demands. They will not be satisfied until they have added their own $1 trillion in additional spend. Both sides will negotiate down to $800 million for each side and we will hear chants of bipartisanship and how they saved us $400 million.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. The Marxists want ACA subsidies that were added during the pandemic to continue past this year. They also want Trump to drop all the Medicaid cuts passed with the OBBB. I expect Trump to comply. ****ing parasites!

If you've seen this movie before, please don't spoil the ending for us.

After doing my own research on Obamacare I think they will absolutely cave on those subsidies. Several Republicans already are. Obamacare is expensive as hell. Wife and I are looking at $1,300-1,500 per month in premiums with a $12-15k deductible if we were to use it. We do not qualify for subsidies which look to be somewhere around $300 per month discount depending on your poverty level.

Holy Mackeral -- that's completely unviable. Especially for the bracket the Dems supposedly were assisting with it.
