Some Latin American governments (like Brazil) still have functional checks and balances. In Honduras, the Supreme Court was able to remove a corrupt president who overstepped his authority (a leftist by the way).

More like a corrupt judiciary.

You may not like it (and that would seem an understatement), but what happened in Brazil was democracy actually functioning.

Dude. There are no more commies. Put your gun down and come out of the forest. The Cold War ended 30 years ago.

No one on here would give a **** about this if Trump didn't think this guy was his buddy.

Where are the daily threads on here about Thailand? Or the other 50 places in the world with former leaders on trial.

i would care, I do significant business in Brazil and it is not supposed to be a 3rd world country, it is the #3 ag economy in the world. They vacated the lawful sentence on their preferred uniparty candidate for corruption to release him from prison, oust Bolsonaro and sentence him to prison.

Brazil's supreme court is pretty corrupt, or at least highly partisan

Also, the current president was convicted of corruption for money laundering and fraud and sentence to jail. His charges were annulled.

The SCOTUS equivalent in Brazil is so corrupt, it makes Biden look like Billy Graham.

Their chief Justice is the defacto ruler of the country. He is an extremely evil Commie *******.

You could easily apply all of the bolded to our current SCOTUS.

And realize the left would love for our SCOTUS to have this power and will do everything they can if they are returned to power to implement a court more extreme than Brazil.

Hell, SCOTUS discussions on here have a surprising number of supposedly educated Americans thinking SCOTUS gets to tell POTUS what he can and cannot do, and if he doesn't listen then Tish and Fani can lock him up.

Again, the left loves what happened to Bolsanaro.

Will be interesting to see if theres any rioting that occurs. Below is protest supporting bolsonaro in the past

They have stifled the opposition parties using harsh law enforcement and censorship.

My pastor just got back from there (he is from there originally).

It's increasingly moving in a Castro like direction.

Very discouraging.

I would support outright sanctions at this point.

You can start those threads or others can ----- but this one is about Brazil.

I have, and others here probably have, personal connections to Brazil. So that might be more relevant to us.

But yes - Bolsonaro is closely aligned to Trump on social and economic policies, and the weaponization of justice against the party out of power closely resembles what the Biden/Garland DOJ did here in the US.

I don't understand your objections......

I have seen some bad takes on here before, but this is pretty high up there.
