Of course, as soon as the Guard leaves DC, criminals will go right back to what they were doing. That is, unless there are major leadership shakups at the chief of police, DAs etc /LOL

Not a fan of this

DC is one thing, it's the federal capital and not part of any state. If the city is not taking care of its people, the next level is the feds.

Chicago and New York City need to be handled by their states. If the city is not taking care of its people, the state needs to intervene. Much like Abbott did for Austin when they defunded their police during the BLM riots and fallout.

But if the State is violating their residents' 14th Amendment rights, the POTUS can send in the Guard; remember racial integration & Gov. Wallace?

Exactly. General law enforcement is not the purview of the federal government and shouldn't be.

No. I don't want any tax money spent on those crime ridden crap holes.

If the libs want lawlessness and favoring criminals over citizens, that is their choice! NYC is about to elect a communist. LoL

Agree. Trump ought to offer, but if they dont want it, eff em. And no Fed money should go to rebuilding anything burned or torn down, because that is on them.

Meh, when the state and local authorities not just fail to enforce the laws the state and local citizens have voted to put in place, then we have a problem that can only be solved by federal intervention.

This becomes particularly acute when those same jurisdictions have said publicly and repeatedly that they will not enforce federal laws and will interfere with federal enforcement of federal laws.

There are mechanisms that allow the federal takeover and I believe Team Trump has their legal ducks in a row on this.

At the very least, a strong argument can be made that lawlessness, violence, etc in certain areas represent a danger to ALL citizens of the United States.

Its an area to debate even for proponents of states' rights. What to do when a state in the union disregards its own laws and federal laws?

The people in the state and city can change government. That's how to fix it, not federalizing the guard.

Chicago and NYC chose this. They can un-choose it.

Some Obama or Biden judge will block this in an instant.

The governors/mayors already writing up the lawsuits and the judges are writing up the TROs.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

That is of course how it SHOULD work. But if I have business in NYC or want to see the Statue of Liberty in person, I should not have to be freely raped and pillaged with no consequence by folks in NYC.

The decision is for those cities to un**** themselves. If not, we have a federal government for that.

I'm not crazy about this either, but good luck getting the makeup plaster-face lady, and the rich fatass to protect their folks.

I kinda think (if elections are fair; ???) the folks should be free to live their lives in fear for their families and property, if that's what they want. Those that don't vote Democrat need to figure out a way to move out.

Unless invited in by the governor of IL and NY, then Trumps move may be problematic. However the people of IL and NY could demand it, that is a different story. All in all it is a good move on Trump's part to troll the liberals.

Look, let the liberals fight him on this and take it to the courts. The blood of the citizens will be on the hands of the local / state politicians and the judges who have a poor understanding of the Constitution.

Lawlessness absolutely violates the entire concept of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".

People worrying about the federalization of police or deploying troops on US soil need to get a dog and sell their pearls the clutch so dearly.

Law & order must prevail.

I was all for cleaning up the streets of DC with federal forces. Usurping the state's authority is another matter. BAD TRUMP.

Politics aside, deploying federal troops to major cities should ring an authoritarian bell in your head.

States have no authority to say "we have no laws and respect no laws nor do we have a duty to protect our citizens".

Authoritarian is preventing people from freely exercising lawful rights. Here, the state and locals have infringed those rights by not protecting them.

And what needs to be broadcast from highest mountain is that Trump offered, they rejected. Make ads saying, "what politician, what city would not want crime to go down? Lay it on them thick. Absolutely put the ball and fault in their court. tired of the mofos who have millions of excuses for bad behavior and the politicians who profit off of chaos.

The 10th Amendment cedes powers not delegated to the federal government to the states, including law enforcement.

The authoritarianism is usurping the state's authority.

Seems the Dems would eventually run out of our USAID/NGO money that's more than likely funded the thousands of lawsuits. (This of course will happen here)

So if I commit a federal crime and local law enforcement doesn't feel like arresting me and the local DA will not prosecute, then I get away free and clear? Sweet!
