I get mocked often for being soft on liberals, but the composite character of F16 gets collective amnesia about my frequent defense of J6 protesters being entitled to Constitutional rights, and the dangers of illiberal lawfare pursued by Biden. Somehow I, instead of my arguments, become the content of conversation, but such is life on f16 and I appreciate posts like this that attempt to poke holes at my reasoning rather than poke holes at me in particular.

I don't have a problem enforcing immigration laws. I do have a problem when the specific goal isn't to enforce the law but to have a show of force against a political rival. That's the whole point of this stunt, its a stunt, meant to send a message of intimidation for political opposition, not make a legitimate good faith argument about gerrymandering nor immigration reform. I would like to see the US come back from a level of discord that will likely result in Balkanization, and see stuff like this as just steering closer to the iceberg.

If anything, this was a show of force to convince illegal aliens to self deport and not participate in US politics.

That is what I voted for.

ICE wasn't harassing any US citizens.

I would like a situation where the US is less antagonistic when it comes to politics. Maybe someone should tell that to Gavin Newsome.

If the Dem state governors are going to be antagonistic the way that CA, IL, NY has been, it's crocodile tears to cry foul when paid back with their own coin.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

This isn't directly lawfare, but both this and lawfare are using the power of the state for a purpose of intimidation or harassment. I certainly don't want this to be business as usual in America.

Too late. It is, and has been, since around 2008.

At least Trump didn't use the FBI to illegally bug Kamala's campaign, lying to the court system many, many times to be able to do it and afterwards to cover it up.

Wah wah...where was your "concern" when an incoming president was being spied on? When a fake Russia Hoax was orchestrated to take Trump down and sabotage his predisency? When weaponized federal agencies openly tampered in a US presidential election in a desperate attempt to help their preferred candidate, Joe Biden? When the prior admin called tech companies and threatened them if they didn't agree to censor certain news or label it "dangerous misinformation". YOUR PARTY IS THE THREAT TO DEMOCRACY.

Surely you were weeping and gnashing teeth as that was infinitely worse than this. A MUCH more direct and genuine "threat to democracy".

Nah, you were dead silent. You didn't care. Yall are hypocrites. Every leftist.

I declare Malibu the winner of this debate, and award 1 star.

I unfortunately do have to deduct two stars for attempting to defend California in any way, shape or form.

Must be a leftover ref from the Big 12.

Typical.

Fair enough that subjecting to judicial review is the worse crime, but to your point, and the point I was trying to make, they are both abuses of government power. When Leticia James was doing it, I was here calling it out. I have less sympathy for arguments claiming lawfare for Jack Smith cases, but that's for a separate thread.

ETA: will be off the grid for the next 72 hours enjoying unplugged life with family in some of this states great nature. Happy Friday.

Enjoy, big ups. But try to focus and reflect on what we have taught you here.

Some of the things you comnplain about the right doing simply pale in comparison to the insidious and democracy-threatening tactics and actions of the modern left. You don't voluntarily call those heinous actions out, you have to be prompted to. But things like ICE agents wearing masks to protect their families and themselves bc leftists are violent and hate them...that kind of stuff gets you worked up.
