I voted for this. This needs to happen with more than just this department. For both security and resliliency reasons, but to help get rid of the incestuous, inbred DC Swamp culture.

Well, it makes ZERO sense for an agriculture department being in a **** hole of a city with zero agriculture. That's not speaking to the other bureaus/departments of FedGov being in DC, just this one specifically.

We need to do this with a lot of federal agencies. NOAA can be spread around. BLM too. Even DOJ.

A friend's sister works for the EPA. They were satellited out in Virginia and now are all being brought back into DC proper. Not sure the reasoning but counter to some of these other moves.

This will also cut back on the number of people who just move from agency to agency within DC. Move most agencies out into America. We need far fewer career government employees.

Nobody who loves Ag wants to live in DC. So you end up with urbanites working the agency instead of legacy farm families. It's a problem in all agencies. Their hub defines who is attracted to those jobs and what community influences will shape employees throughout their time there.
