Why is this card even allowable as an option for employers to do a direct deposit? The Mexican president needs to get hammered by the administration. Why aren't remittance taxes at 50%? 15% is not enough.

Public benefits received by illegal aliens is theft. Tax evasion by illegal aliens and their employers is theft.

I dunno, it sounds like they are subsidizing it to the tune of a 10% interest rate on deposits/balance? Any bank (in a non-sanctioned country) can be used for direct deposits, but I don't know how that avoids the tax on remittances really. Maybe it does, I just am not sure that report is accurate or not (or the below), as it's supposed to replace cash remittances (which of course are almost never tax-paying). The remittance tax to Mexico is now 3.5% I believe.

Translation:
Quote:

Very proud, they present the Finabien Card, so that undocumented migrants working in the U.S. can send their remittances without paying the new tax.

They promise that when the money arrives in a Finabien account in Mexico, they will receive a 10% rate… right away!

It's awesome! Not even CETES pay that much anymore! And with monthly capitalization, meaning by the end of the year, it'll be much more than 10%.

In short: with every deposit, the country will lose money… as usual, keeping the tradition alive.

Who knows, we might even end up laundering money… and with high interest rates!

Grok:
Quote:

Any financial tool, such as the Finabien Card, could be used for money laundering if there are no strict controls. However, as an entity regulated by the Mexican government, it implements AML measures such as KYC, sending limits ($2,500/day, $10k/month), and transaction monitoring, according to its compliance manual. There is no evidence that it promotes laundering; its purpose is to facilitate legitimate remittances. Verify with authorities for details.

Can I get my own Tarjeta Finabien to evade income taxes and use in the US? I mean even if Mexico takes 10% off the top, I'm still coming out ahead.

You guys only say this out of mockery, in defense of third world leeches (many illegal) actually harming our country by diverting BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars out of this country.

There's a reason your party is dying. This type of crap is one of many.

Simple solution - Put Finabien on the sanctions list for financial corruption and support with the cartels

It is real easy to get around the repatriation taxes. Take cash over the border, crypto currency, debit cards, running payments through business payments, etc. No foreign government help needed. The private sector will provide a low cost mechanism to help those that don't figure out how to do it themselves.

The rate of collection on this tax will be a very small % of the amount the Admin thinks they will collect and it wouldn't surprise me if it is less than the cost to administer the situation.

Proves yet again what a ****hole Mexico is.

Their President is encouraging illegals who have escaped that ****hole, to send money back without paying any fees. They are already illegal, not paying taxes (hence the cash remittances) and now she's proudly showing them a way to not pay any fees.

She should be embarassed, but clearly is proud of her illegals and ****hole country

If we had a CIA worth a damn, Mexican government officials would start mysteriously disappearing. Things would change FAST.

Mexico is a 3rd world **** hole narco state that we've put up with for WAY too long.

They are a parasitic government whose country does nothing for us but drain our resources and encourage lawlessness.

Again, we need to invade them and take the country.

If ever there was a legitimate case for it, this is it.

The cash option would be those that go over the border, deposit the money in a Mexican bank just over the border and head back. For those that say they risk getting caught for illegal immigration, a number of people sending remittance back have legal status/citizenship. That said, I think crypto and other means would be the primary way of getting around the tax if people want to do it.

Even without avoidance, this would collect around $0.6b/yr max based on $63b of remittances and Trump's 1% tax. How much will it cost us to set up another federal taxing authority to administer this? My bet would be at least a multiple more than that this is the Federal government after all, the poster child of inefficiency.

They don't want them to be funding terrorism like US taxpayers.
