1) "Americans have grown markedly more positive toward immigration over the past year, with the share wanting immigration reduced dropping from 55% in 2024 to 30% today.

2) At the same time, a record-high 79% of U.S. adults say immigration is a good thing for the country."

Any thoughts on point 1 or point 2 above? I'm sure it will be on most of the network news tonight.

Americans have groaned markedly more with every new poorly wriiten poll designed for mainstream media and its consumers...

Isn't this poll a complete 180 from almost every poll conducted over that last 1 to 2 months?

It's really hard keeping up with the mass mood swings polls state the American people go through every few weeks.

With the exception of a few TexAgs fringe posters, i don't know of anybody against legal immigration. I wish we had a faster, more efficient system that relied more on merit these days though. There's no reason it should take years like my German Immigrant cabinet maker had to wait.

The worst things about these polls is I will have to listen to Jessica Tarkovsky quote this one poll over and over again for the next 3 weeks episodes of The Five.

True story.

My high school went all in for the firsr Earth Day. One "nationally known" speaker argued for something that would reduce pollution by 200%. One of my teachers asked - " If 100% reduction is all of it, how are you going to reduce 200%?'

Democrats will protest and fly out of the country to have margaritas with an MS13 Gang member who is a human trafficker and was never legal but will lose their minds over a white South African who has never broken a law and has significant and needed skills that just doesn't want to be murdered because of his skin color.

These are not rational and sane people.

Just another bogus polling question solely to generate headlines for the left. No serious pollster would ever use a question worded in that manner.

I'm fine with legal immigration as are most Americans.

HOWEVER, we all know Dems intentionally conflate legal and illegal immigration to create false support for illegal immigration

Somehow I bet the question was not phrased "Do you support anyone from anywhere illegally crossing our border"

I know a lot of people around me that agree with the poll. They want the border locked down to stop illegal immigration but they recognize a need for a legal immigration process that ensures criminals aren't getting in but we have a certain number of legal immigrants come in that can be productive members of society. The other key is that when they come over hear, they have jobs lined up so they pay taxes and aren't on the dole.

Yeah, but that should be expected. As, now, WE HAVE NO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Whch is the reason the first point is not really a point, because how can we reduce below zero? Setting aside the conflation of legal and illegal immigration.

The concern has "abated" because Trump took back control of the border. 60% per CNN want ALL illegals deported. Not just the criminals

My guess is that this pole is hot garbage.

Most people agree that legal immigration is fine, but the issue has been about illegal immigration which is highly unpopular. Trump is very strong here.

I also think that as people see the veracity of Trump's deportation efforts and the success he is having with both that and with closing the border, it is natural for people to breathe easier and shift focus to other things. The illegal immigration issue naturally becomes less important and other issues take it's place. Again, it speaks to the overall stunning success of the Trump immigration policies.

Deportation means something different to everyone... Legal, illegal, freebies, cost, gangs, anchor babies, uncontrollable and unsustainable population growth, etc., vs. dudes working hard trying to figure it out regardless of status...

I guess you don't interact with anyone under the age of 30. There's an entire generation of men that are fed up with the job market being centered around foreign labor, whether legal or illegal

As an aside, this whole legal vs illegal distinction is a farce that only exists to help people feel good about their takes. Unless we start deporting at a rate exponentially higher than we do now, *every* immigrant is effectively legal no matter how they came in. Same with how weed is effectively legal in Texas right now, if you don't enforce the law you don't have a law.
