this has been a thing for a while now, but really took off in 2020 when our feckless leaders shut down the entire country.
Mexico was still open for business and word has since traveled about the cost of living and amenities that are appealing to gringos with money.

This isn't just rich liberals moving to Mexico and screwing it up. Central America has become a popular place to retire to due to cost of living. Costa Rica is more popular than Mexico but it's becoming relatively expensive. I'm not dismissing the idea that these are rent-a-riots paid for by Soros or the American taxpayers but the phenomenon of Americans moving to Central America in sufficient numbers to drive up the cost of living is real. At one point I read Mexicans and Americans were migrating is pretty similar numbers such that net migration was about zero. Don't know if that's true or not.

If you're stupid enough to move to Mexico you get what you deserve. One of the worst countries on the planet.

Mmm. Maybe for their own rank and file citizens but there are some very beautiful and fun places there and the people are generally pretty great as well. I'm not saying you don't have to be careful but we have been there a dozen x or so and always had a great time . Where have you been in Mexico?

I'd say anywhere in Africa or the Middle East, and most places in SA, Asia, and even Europe are less desirable places than Mexico for most Americans to live.
