Ultimately nobody wants the economic shock that would come from immediately deporting all the illegal manual laborers. The the fact that many Americans are far too ignorant of the economic complexities in play here to realize that would happen doesn't change the reality. They can THINK they want something to happen, but they are not prepared to accept the consequences of what they want. Being smart about who you deport is in part saving these people from themselves.

And again, putting aside the economic reality that we need some of these people, a majority of Americans do not want every illegal alien deported. Hardline "deport them all" sentiment is a minority no matter how divide up the data, including if you look at JUST Trump voters. Getting rid of the illegals that objectively represent the biggest threat while simultaneously not giving the media narrative layups is just the smart play.

At the end of the day a lot of you "life isn't fair" types need to heed your own words here. No it's not fair that some illegals get to stay after not going through the proper channels to get here. But at some point you gotta just get over it. It is what it is and we can make the best of it or continue clamoring for a solution that would be both detrimental and logistically close to impossible.

You asking for rational thought and self-reflection on f16 is simply a bridge too far. Its way better to say the BBB is trash because it didn't balance the budget, Trump is a war mongerer for bombing Iran, and every single last illegal immigrant has to go home in order to "learn their lesson"

Three strawmen in a single post. Congratulations, that's probably a record.

So some laws can be broken and remain unenforced, and others to be abided strictly? Who gets to decide that? Certainly not the American people, who overwhelmingly approve of the deportation efforts.

No. The law is the law. If you don't like the law, change the law. Our representatives--to include POTUS--were elected to support and defend the Constitution, under which process these laws were duly passed by the Legislature and signed by the Executive. If they cannot, or will not, enforce the law and the Constitution, they ought to be impeached, Democrat or Republican.

You should learn what a strawman is before you start handing out records. Just sayin…

Prosecutorial discretion is a part of our legal system.

Ever not get a ticket whilst speeding?

Do we not have probation, deferred adjudication, etc?

I am perfectly fine with letting them stay and putting them on probation where any slip means an exit.

There are rational solutions to this.
