That would curb the practice of paying illegals pretty quickly

You ID your lawn guys and verify their alien status and right to work?

Suggest some folks around here should start. Many of the ones working are legal and it may educate them on where there are illegals running rampant and where they are not.

But man, I would love to start seeing homeowners locked up on this. That is the path to victory for the Republican Party. Deport all laborers and lock up all your constituents. Total success!!!!

At least one person in the photo appeared to be in handcuffs and being escorted somewhere.
HSI Tampa said some of those arrested had been previously deported and that others had criminal backgrounds. Those arrested were said to be from several countrie: Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Colombia & Honduras.

What they're saying:
"Over 100 illegal aliens at a Florida job site some previously deported, some with rap sheets. All of them thought no one would notice. Florida noticed" - FDLE in a post on X.[/url]

If this was done at every construction site, big and small (houses, etc.), one can only imagine how many we'd be deporting on a daiily basis. Hopefully we'll start seeing stories like this alll throughout cities in Texas soon.
But who would build our suburban sprawl!!?

Suburban sprawl is due to folks believing that they actually own the dirt they live on and that every Toms, Dicks and Harrys should have a mortgage at 5%+, and telling people renting or leasing is a path to financial insecurity. But let's blame the lawn guys.

How does this fine process play out?

If the crews have appropriate paperwork (I9, W4, 1099, etc), who gets fined? GC, subcontractor, 2nd tier sub....??
The laws are deliberately written to require employees to show proof of being eligible to work in this country, but does not require them to verify the authenticity. Like all immigration related laws, it is written to give the appearance of getting tough on illegal immigration but do nothing to punish or deter those who abet it. Oh, he's an illegal alien? He showed me his birth certificate, and it looked legit to me.

I mean, I grew up on an acre and a half, and used a snapper mower with like a 30" deck.

Now live on an acre, and you better believe my honkey are ain't getting out to mow that again.

You want a few million, maybe 10s of millions, small businesses to be the arbiter of legal worker status? Does that seem like a good idea?

what? You're just okay with companies hiring hordes of illegal immigrants? That's a take I didn't see coming from F16.
He didn't say that, and you seriously don't understand how this works.

Intentionally obtuse.

Doesn't matter. I have used e-verify plenty of times and everything came back legit on folks I am sure were illegal. Matter of fact, I know one was because he got caught trying to come back after a vacation home to Mexico.

I respect acting cute and acute. It's the obtuse and the isosceles that will kill ya.
