She looks like Andy Worhal. The French are so freaking weird. Can't believe they haven't toughened up since getting slapped around by Germany twice. I wonder if the Greatest Generation regrets their sacrifice to kick Germanies ass twice only to have the French turn out like they have? If we weren't here to protect them, would France even still exist as it does today?

She is 25 years older. She was also his female classmate's mother. She was his school teacher as well. The woman has a child 3 years older than her husband.

Very freaky.

They did lose several generations of their bravest and most patriotic men to the meat grinder of modern total war. 9% of all French males KIA in WW1, 3% of all French males in WW2. For comparison, the US suffered around .2% and .6%, respectively. That had to have radically impacted their culture.
