Wonder if trump will have the judge arrested.

Trump has never had a judge arrested, the DOJ has when a judge broke federal law.

Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser was on PBS for 32 years. It's what this finance major watched on Friday nights during college. Loved it. Watched it until it went off the Air.

Some other shows I can think of that were/are on PBS that did not kill America:

Austin City Limits
NOVA
Masterpiece Theatre
All Creatures Great and Small
Baseball
The Civil War
The War (yeah, I know Ken Burns is a Democrat from New York)

PBS and NPR get chump change from our federal tax dollars (maybe 10 or 15% of their funding, directly and indirectly). They will survive.

If you ever ate at McDonalds in the old days, you helped fund Mrs Ray Kroc's 100s of millions of dollars in donations. If you are a Liberty Mutual customer, same thing. The list goes on and on.

I'm fine with federal funding being cut off, but it's the whole "Congress funds things" (Congress funds, the President can veto, or sign it, etc). I have no idea about Presidential EOs being legal. It seems Biden did all sorts of EOs I did not think were appropriate or legal.

Maybe it's your representatives in Congress that you should express your feelings towards?

I like those shows and they can stand on their own without government funding. The time has passed when tax dollars need to be used to create tv and radio programming.

They should not be arrested.

Are these not a creation of Congress and for them to fund or defund?

Hated executive orders under Obama, Trump, Biden, becoming more and more about legislating things they want then staying within the scope of what an executive order can be.
Agreed but this Congress sure doesn't seem very motivated. I think they're trying to slow play Trump and mitigate the damage they think he's doing. They just want to get back to their private jets, steak dinners, trips to the Cayman's while telling us to take the subway.
I'm feeling the same. Lots of good lip service early on, some concern noted as things are brought up, then the four corners "offense" as they debate the minutia of any potential solution. When 2026 hits they can go back to business as usual.

Yup. Trump's EO may get shut down because he has no authority to eliminate what congress has created, but they can certainly defund NPR through a budgetary reconciliation vote which only takes a simple majority. This is the way. Cause as much chaos as you can to severely wound an organization that can't be killed.

This congress has been the least active in nearly 7 decades.

They've passed 6 bills, trump has signed 5. 3 of them are carry overs from the last admin. In comparison, in 2016 at this same point, Republicans and trump had passed and signed 30 bills, the most of any administration for a 100 years.

Republicans are the worst. This is all for naught so long as Republicans are content to stay in the shadows and not do a damn thing.

I see more Schumer and Jeffries than Johnson and, to be honest, I can't even remember who the senate leader is. That's how inconspicuous he is.

Wtf is congress doing?

Long overdue. I like some of their musical programming but the political content is … unbalanced to say the least.

OK with NPR going away, but can we please keep PBS Kids funded (selfishly a few more years would be fine). Commercial free decent kids programming that doesn't immediately start a new episode of the same show (like streaming) is nice for toddlers.

They are extremely, extremely biased. Especially NPR. And, the fact that NPR is extremely biased is, by the very definition, illegal.

Do you contest that:

1) NPR is biased?
2) The NPR being biased is illegal?
3) That NPR being biased is OK because they still make good content, even if being biased is illegal?

Only if PBS starts showing Bluey and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.

In fact, if there really is a court case here that goes to trial, I would want to see discovery on any and all considerations of whether or not to carry these two shows.

Lol. Npr's content is mostly ***** They've got one or two decent programs that could/would probably survive on its own, but overall, npr is a turd sandwich.

*been listening to npr for 15 years now, formerly every day, recently sparingly.

This is why it is ALWAYS a bad idea to federally fund ANYTHING that is not strictly a public good (ie defense). PBS and NPR have been unnecessary for decades now, and we're still debating whether or not they should be defunded. Once government starts paying for something, it never goes away. Once a tax is implemented, it never goes away, even when whatever it was supposed to pay for gets completed.

There are now 1000's of NPR and PBS equivalent programing that are accessible for free on every TV or phone. They are irrelevant

I actually love to listen to NPR to understand how the ActBlue spin machine works. NPR is probably the best out there at giving a nuanced view of the spin they trot out.

I listen to NPR when I am in the car for drives that are half an hour or less, but I do it in kind of a Sun Tzu sort of way.

I used to try and call in and pretend I am going to ask one question before asking a different one, but they do a great job of screening callers.

If they survive without Govt. funding, that is great. They can be a private radio station. However, people will now know that they are "NOT the official Govt News Station" and are now a private stations that is led by its biggest donors.

The Democrats were just using it's Govt Funding as free money and the guise of "An independent Govt Funded Impartial Public Service News Station" .

The left is always prioritizing "education" over critical thinking skills. You can "educate" someone to do whatever you want. It's very difficult to control someone who can think for themselves, therefore it is their enemy.
