The attorney for the district seems to think that the large number of parents opting out is a winning argument for "forcing" them to comply with the nature of the curriculum.

He (they) don't see that it's an illustration of the unreasonableness of his position, and the actual agenda driven nature of it.

Leftists think everyone should comply with their agenda, no matter how perverse or degenerate.

Their kids can be forced to sit through it if the alphabet kids can also be forced to sit through Bible study.

If you cannot show an image of Muhammad, in school, then you cannot show an image of a man dressed like a women, in the classroom. If you cannot discuss Muhammad's marriage to his 6-year old third wife, in school, then you cannot discuss gay marriage, in the classroom.

As much as I am not on board with vouchers, these situations should make parents hopeful for school options other than Public School with stupid running rampant.

BTW, in Israel, the state gives parents a choice of 4 different state sponsored schools for everyone:

1) State-Secular
2) State-religious (mild form)
3) Independent religious (very strict Chabad in practice)
4) Arab (Islamic)

How else are they going to be able to indoctrinate our children unless they "force" their ideology down the kids' throats? Pun intended.

Bingo! You will be forced to do as we say, but at the same time they say they don't want religion forced upon them. I know it's two different issues, but the same principle still applies, CHOICE.

Name me a public school that has required course of Bible study.

Maybe if they were forced to sit in a Bible study class they would see the error of their ways.

If we're going to teach virtue ethics or anything that stems from the oldest and most influential intellectual tradition in the western world, then we have to teach kids about gay sex. It's both or neither. This is the prevailing attitude. Our society is so stupid.

I've got to think Wisconsin v Yoder comes into play here. Parents claim religious freedom to require the opt-out allowance (similar to how the Amish parents claimed religious freedom to pull their kids out of school after 8th grade).

The school system's argument (at least the little bit that I heard) about why they removed the opt-out was that they didn't have a place to put all the kids who opted out. In Yoder, the court ruled that religious freedom outweighed the state's interest in an educated populace in general; I can't imagine the argument of "this is too much of a pain in the ass" would carry more weight with the current justices.

Gorsuch is a fantastic jurist.

I love Alito and Thomas. They most reflect my wold view. But I have immense appreciation for Gorsuch even on the occasions he is not on the side I wish he were. He's has ideological independence with sound rational.
