Does anyone have a well informed opinion on this executive order? It seems to be throwing the baby out with the bath water. I can't tell if the goal is to sunset the entirety of each of the acts listed or just individual parts of each of these acts.

What it seems to be doing is requiring each regulatory agency to set sunset dates on existing regulation and on any new regulation issued.

This ensures that regulations are in a constant state of review and will be eliminated, extended, or altered as necessary instead of just staying on the register forever.

I think this is a good idea.

Regulations, like spending, grow one way. Once set in motion there is never anything to review its effectiveness or ****** its growth.

This is simply an attempt to force a review of some of those regulations. It's a healthy process and sorely needed.

IIRC, the migratory bird treaty was in response to the fashion statement of the 1920's where bird feathers were in high demand. Europe especially.

Water Turkeys or Cormorants shouldn't be protected. They have learned to eat up every trout the state stocks in the winter.

Put a bag limit on them just like other waterfowl...

Hell no! Treat them like brown-headed cowbirds!

It will last until a federal judge decides that the administration can't do administration things without their express permission.

So much land is designated as wetlands and i have to think migratory birds and protecting their habitat is a fair piece of the justification for it . It can have a severe impact on development and cost of development of said land . I always felt like a good piece of this was just to be obstructive so a review of what is and isn't really impactful to migratory birds seems to me to be a positive .

Does this mean I can run over the non-migratory Canada geese that infest every parking lot these days?

Legislation should be handled the same way. If it's working, keep it. If it's causing more problems than it's solving, ditch it.

I chased some barn swallows off my front porch yesterday before they made their nest. Added a couple of fake snakes to discourage future illegal immigration.

The migratory bird act is way, way too inclusive.

It should be scrapped and protection should enforced based on the health and population of individual species, not blanket protection unless specifically excluded.

And Cormorants should have similar bag limits as dove. 12 to 15 daily bag, 24 to 30 possession.

I would be just fine with a world where Cormorants only existed in zoos and in cages next to the dire wolves.

Funny story: I was bass fishing in Livingston one year, and a cormorant surfaced with the head of an about 1.5 lb catfish sticking out of its mouth. We were in the shallows, so lots of boats around. The cormorant had tried to swallow the catfish tail side first. The Channel cat stuck out its dorsal fins, and got caught in the bird's throat. The bird was slapping its head against the surface of the water, desperately trying to dislodge the fish. After about 10 minutes, the bird died. Many boats quietly golf clapped. One boat tried to locate the bird to save the hero of a fish, but the bird sank before they could get to it. It was almost like something out of a cartoon.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

Proven way to keep swallows away:

Paint the top 6" of the wall sky blue

We have also had luck in small porches by hanging up an aluminum pie plate. Flash, movement and noise keeps them away, at least in windy areas
