Fifteen international students at Texas A&M University may no longer be allowed to remain legally in the U.S. after their immigration status was changed in a federal database.

It is unclear why the federal government revoked the A&M students' ability to stay in the country legally but a university official said the students had not committed any dangerous offenses known to the university.


It's affecting students across the country. The Administration is revoking visas and purportedly sending a bunch of them home. The Provost's office is upset. It seems similar to the federal firings in a lot of ways.

But Trump is telling certain students…

Trump will fix it.

Couple thoughts...I'm sure there are several statuses. Only telling us what it changed to would have us assume there is terminated and ...not terminated. Would be curious what the prior status was...expired perhaps?

Why would the University think it is necessary to add "dangerous" as a qualifier to their legal or illegal activity.

I know several good/quality students at A&M, who are struggling to navigate degree plans, etc, because they can't simply get a meeting with an advisor to help. It's a constant frustration for a lot of students/parents.

But the Provost's office is taking an interest in these 15 students? huh, wonder why....

Re causing a ruckus ...

Recall that 9 of the 19 hijackers on 9-11 were here on student visas.

People forget that visas are a privilege not a right and come with conditions.

So 23-years post 9-11 we've finally made an effort to take action on this issue. Nice.

You go anywhere else in the world on a student visa and raise hell your ass be gone or in jail, forthwith.

I may be harsh, but I think international students who dont go home and use their education to better their country violate the reason to let them come here.

Practical experience in high tech.

Our Lib CEO railed against Chinese tariffs publicly (and on media) but privately made sure none of our chinese employees could get to sensitive US servers. Also had to terminate multiple chinese employees for copying hardware designs on to external drives. In one case, 80GB of designs.

We should wait for the details. 15 students out of the thousands of students (almost all graduate students) is a situation where a student(s) most likely overstayed their F1s

Good! As a son of Taiwanese parents, I am glad the Trump administration has revoked 300+ visas from foreign students involved in protests that serve absolutely no purpose in this country. Receiving a student visa to study and get a degree is a privilege, not a right.

Seems like we have too few spots available for Texans.

Not sad that nontexans are getting sent home when there aren't enough spots for the people the university is supposed to serve.
