This incident was embedded in another thread a few days ago. I don't know if there has been anything else on it

Gavin Melchor was walking home after the Houston Rodeo. Stopped at an ATM, was attacked, and ultimately brutally beaten to death

The whole thing was caught on video, and the faces of the 3 suspects can clearly be seen, and are depicted on multiple media websites. One only has to Google to get the video, and still shots of the suspects

A month later, as far as I know, no arrests (unless I've missed the update)

Anybody know if they have made arrests or if there are any developments? This was a horrific homicide. If you live in Houston, or have loved ones there, watch out

Here's the story with video

Pack heat and keep your head on a swivel if you ever have to venture into an urban environment.

There is no way this isn't solved unless HPD does not TRY.

There are like 5+ witnesses with clear faces standing around watching.

It would not be hard to track any of them down.

Also, they get out of a black truck, they should be able to get the license plate when it drove off.

I am wondering if that may have been his truck? I remember seeing the vid and being confused...that looks like an expensive cooler in the bed of the truck...Also not the type of vehicle violent hoodlums of this variety usually drive.

EDIT: I stand corrected...his family said he was walking home. Still not a truck you typically see driven by punks like this. Also, that girl with the rodeo badge around her neck...very bizarre response to something like this. Not implying anything...I just don't understand some people. Acts like she's watching the grass grow.

Yeah. Could have also been stolen. Even hoodrats aren't (generally) stupid enough to commit crimes in their own vehicles.

Back around 2006 or so, my buddy and I were rolling up Wheatley through Acres Homes on our way to Williams BBQ (RIP). A very rough part of town for those who are not from The Tine.

We approach a stop light and roll up on a pristine lifted white F-250 with an Association of Former Students decal on the back window, basically my dream truck. I'm expecting to see a real estate broker or yell leader lookin mofo, but when we pull up, we see that it is being driven by one of the scariest, most thugged out dudes i've ever seen...he had a prison yard look.

He just looks over at us and asks if we wanted to by some weed or Xanax and we politely decline and then the light turns green.

I probably should have called that one in, but HPD would have just been like...

If you have to ask, then you know the answer.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Not victim blaming at all but that area of town at 1am should be no go let alone pulsing money out. Also, Houston is mad max at Thunderdome and police and local government do not give a **** about regular citizen who are victims of crime.

Not victim blaming at all but victim blaming. --- that's how that reads.

Pulsing money out should not be a deserved death sentence anywhere in America, ever. Yet thanks to our degenerate society and the progressive policies that leads to it and approves it, here we are.

Im not vicitim blaming but you have to have some common sense that area at 1am, I take it you are not from Houston.?

Yes I agree with you but unfortunately that's not reality in large democrat-controlled cities in the USA.

That's neither here nor there

The issue is why haven't these guys been identified and arrested?

Their faces have been captured in remarkably high quality photos

This should have been wrapped up 3 weeks ago

I spent 3 minutes looking for the confused Lina Hidalgo gif and couldn't find it anywhere. Would have been perfect here. Oh and I spent more time looking for that gif than HPD did looking for the killers.

sorry, I realize the thread is about the perps not being caught ... or possibly not being sought... but I was responding because the poster said "i'm not victim blaming" then proceeded to insinuate that the victim shouldn't be in that part of town or the victim shouldn't pulse money out, which sounds a lot like victim blaming to me.

I was not victim blaming you have to use common sense when navigating big cities especially at night, this is not a hard concept.

Ever heard of the term being street smart?

Lived in Houston 40-45 years ago. Great place! Had a lot of fun, reasonably safe at that time. But from what I saw in 2016 when my buddy was terminally ill and in Hermann Hospital, I've avoided it ever since. SMDH

The Houston rodeo should put up a $100,000 reward to start with, this occurred because of Their event, croooks have been targeting rodeo people for years, I know several people who turned over their money over the last 20 years to these crooks. They seem to be getting more brazen, the reason many of us don't go up their or only take a limo if we go. If you go make sure you use the transportation on the Kirby side where all the parking lots and Uber lines are .. at least there are more people . I would not park outside in the "private" pay lots .. but it could happen anywhere- also go w a group, they target individuals

in fact I have lived in Houston. I also have a wife and three kids who, despite all warnings and teachings, occasionally display a lack of common sense. I'd hate for one of them to get murdered by thugs someday and some fool on a message board be like: "oh well they didn't use commons sense" like it's their fault for getting themselves murdered. That is the definition of victim blaming- like a rape victim shouldn't be wearing a short skirt or something.

LMAO ok man tell your kids to go purvey a gas station in the ghetto at 1am in a major city let me know how that works out for them father of the year! Even the police will tell you are lacking common sense.

Anway you can't find any post in this thread where I said he deserved to die for his actions.

LOL what strange hill to die on here pointing out facts is now victim blaming.

here is the crime stats for that area, maybe exercise caution when going to a gas station at 1am in that area, what novel concept.

I grew up in SW Houston and am very familiar with Souf Main Street. It's always had a reputation, but more for prostitution and drugs. The first time I saw a guy in a business suit pick up a prostitute was at that very gas station, when I was a little kid. My favorite memory of Covid madness was seeing the girls on Hoe Row all wearing masks. Safety first!

This kind of casual violence wasn't always common before Democrats took over the courts and turned them into a revolving door for thugs.

I agree with most of the precautions and avoid situations like this late night, but the guy was walking to his home, not out on some hood tourism. There are some ****ty apartments around there, but it's not super far from nice, normal neighborhoods either.

When you live in that landscape, I think it can be kind of easy to get inured. Red flags don't stand out as much when they're everywhere. On the other hand, some of uns are just more judgmental about appearances and surroundings, knowing I value my life a lot more than any thug does.
