The fact that the CDC recommended vaccines for anyone under the age of 30 without leukemia is criminal, and flies in the face of the Hippocratic oath.BadMoonRisin said:
Instead, we closed daycares and forced children to performatively wear masks when they were re-opened for several years, when there was essentially no reason to.
In California - during our 3+ years of Covid, I called them "Compliance Masks" because that's all they were.BadMoonRisin said:
It even said on the box of the face-diapers that they did not help prevent the spread of COVID19, yet we still had to wear them.
Again, performative.
Cool. Now do South Dakota who never locked down either.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:Correct. Sweden also has higher taxes, a serious gang violence issue, and concerns about Russia.TRM said:
Sweden didn't lock down and knew enough to limit exposure.
Yeah - not responding as criticism to you - just pointing out that there were some of us at that point already asking if universal lockdowns had value or whether they should instead be local conditions based.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:I agree with you but hindsight can be 20/20.Get Off My Lawn said:

I've never said the response was the best decision.
What am I supposed to do with South Dakota? Mistakes were clearly made but the 15-day lockdown seemed reasonable at the time by most people. I don't think it was malicious but to each their own. And August was well-beyond the initial 15 days.HollywoodBQ said:Cool. Now do South Dakota who never locked down either.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:Correct. Remember how holding the Sturgis motorcycle rally in August 2020 was portrayed as a "Super Spreader" event?
Where govt is concerned it's incompetent malice…Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:What am I supposed to do with South Dakota? Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence.

Noem got the credit for it, but she was ready to lockdown, too; the legislature forced her to stay open.BusterAg said:
And Noem got a lot of pub for that and some favor from MAGA until she went off the deep end with women's competitive rights.
In California where I lived during the "two weeks to stop the spread", don't worry, it was definitely malice.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:What am I supposed to do with South Dakota? If the 15 day lockdowns had been it, I think most people would have been fine with it.Quote:

The "wear a mask into the restaurant but take it off when you sit down" rule had to be the dumbest thing ever.

Except almost everything done post-lockdown was done entirely out of malice.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:What am I supposed to do with South Dakota? Also never forget that a few months into this, lockdowns were still going on but an exception was made for those protesting with BLM.
If that didn't convince you that these people were clowns, nothing will.

15 days to stop the spread was absolutely reasonable at the time.
What was unreasonable was:
1) The unwillingness of anyone on earth to stick to that original idea.
2) The willingness of the masses to believe the *******s in charge when they promised only 15 days.
The result of those two things ultimately led to Joe Rogan founding a comedy club in Texas that is named after the fact that, based on everything the *******s in charge are willing to lie to us about, there might, in fact, be aliens among us.
At least America is not dumb enough to continue to roll over 5 years later, like Europe apparently is. Faith in institutions in the US is in the absolute gutter because of this, more than anything.
It was an ugly period for our country, and the rest of the world, in fact. But, I feel like most of the U.S. actually learned something from it, at least.
