You know if it was those same liberals getting swatted they would NOT behave nicely to whoever showed up at their door. They would scream rasicm, nazi, and every other imagined thing they could think of to whine about it and make a scene. Truly repulsive people.

How have we not developed a method to prevent swatting? Maybe some national/local law enforcement registry for high profile individuals and/or anyone who has ever been the victim of swatting that requires a two step verification before sending a tactical response to someone's house in the middle of the night.

Just like the regular fake mass shooting calls with schools, hospitals, and universities, good chance these are coming from overseas.

There are actual groups in India and elsewhere that someone can pay to call in fake threats.

If it is, almost impossible to stop.

I think there is some opportunity for law enforcement to "reimagine" their storming Fallujah responses to the phone calls.

It's become tactically convenient for the response to be an overwhelming show of force which creates the highly dangerous situation.

Cops may have to go back to knocking on the door and assessing the situation for themselves. Or stand in the driveway with a bullhorn making clear announcements.

Does seem like if you are a potential target than becoming friend with your local LEOs is a wise move.

What disgusting pigs. With today's technology how can we not find out who is doing this? They need to be found and made an example of. Throw them under the jail.

I think the appropriate response is a patrol team knocking with additional team members significantly set back w/ line of sight on the knocking officers.
Approaching officers should assume armed / concerned / confused / agitated respondent who demands ID and is wary but not overtly hostile.
If credible tip: insist on wellness checking others.
If credible threat: escalate accordingly.

But it should be expected that a man answering the door to 2am demands will have a gun and be on edge - so any analysis of the threat needs to account for the context.

Okay, the leftists calling it in are scum, but isn't the law enforcement response too extreme? If you don't usually receive calls of hostage taking in a suburban community, or in a rural area, can't you consider the possibility that it's a hoax or do you immediately have to gear up and play the role of jack-booted government thugs? They are being played for the fool, and aren't there alternatives? Yes, they have to treat the call seriously, just in case, but how about showing up and then phoning the homeowner asking if everything is okay, and telling them that there's a report of hostage taking? And when told nothing is wrong, the homeowner can say we going to come out and that they are welcome to come in and search the house, the police won't be sitting there with itchy trigger fingers. Maybe sitting there and yelling over a loudspeaker is okay, but doesn't that make the neighbors more likely to jump out and arm themselves? But breaking in the door is absurd and doing it twice in 12 hours like in the one post is just stupid.

Call me naive, and I'm not in law enforcement and I would just like somebody in law enforcement to explain why there are no alternatives.

We need some high-profile prosecutions of these actions as attempted murder.

This actually makes it a bigger deal in my mind. This is a researched and coordinated action. Perhaps it's one guy who went on a swatting spree - perhaps it's a cell coordinated in an online space. If the latter: hit em with terrorism, RICO, etc in addition to false reports and attempted murder.

Every guilty person they catch gets mandatory 10 year prison sentence.

They are afraid of being wrong. They operate as of the situation is real and serious because if they don't, and it is real, they get absolutely excoriated and destroyed by the public. They are afraid of false calls or wrong address information leading to a terrible tragedy but they are more afraid of the very rare time where they don't go in all the way and it is real and then get accused of something like the Uvalde response or the various other cases where they were framed as not responding fast and aggressively.

They are trained that aggressive responses generally have safer and better outcomes. That is true, when the situation is real.

With so many of these false reports, however, that introduces a different math about danger to innocent persons.

This swatting tactic is nothing new. it's a win-win situation for the evil muppets. worst case for them - their target is scared and inconvenienced in the middle of the night. Best cases for them - a dissident gets killed.

Democrats more and more are becoming the faces of evil.

• intentional importation of millions of criminals to enter unfettered via a wide open border with zero Fs to give about citizens' safety
• mass-mailed in, zero ID, E-Z fraud unauditable and unaccountable elections
• permanent mutualization of children, destruction of girls sports, and endangerment of women in bathrooms and dressing rooms

they have programmed half the population to support all of these things because: watch out -the greatest threat to "democracy" is far right wing extremist fascism for their evil crimes of having jobs and families and wanting smaller government and lower taxes or worse, still believing in God.

No. Their response isn't uncalled for. They HAVE to treat it as a real threat. Even if they're 90% sure it's fake, there's a 10% chance their lack of response or force gets them or someone else killed. Joe Pags had the perfect response to this. Call 911, and stay on the line with them through the encounter. This eases the tension for everyone.

Plausible explanation, but what are the consequences if they are wrong? They learn that there is a hostage situation. They are already there and ready if it turns out bad. I'm just saying don't kick in the door in the middle of the night, which we have seen is just as likely to cause the death of an innocent person as it is elimination of a hostage taker. Probably more likely. I'm just saying they should try to confirm if the report is valid before pointing guns.

But some of them had their door kicked in. The Pags situation wasn't as bad, and as I said maybe screaming through the bull horn is okay. You can't calmly call 911 if somebody has you on the ground with a gun in your face.

You have to find them first.

That's the ideal circumstance but they also have quite a bit of data that overall, the advantage of speed and surprise results in less resistance if there is a real situation. The price is that when there is an error or a false report, the odds of a bad outcome do go up. Right now, they must balance the consequences and frequency of real vs false, to minimize bad outcomes.

Ive said several times before: the no-knock approach is a tool that should be taken away when used without proper diligence.

One of the Unsubscribed guys was almost no-knock swatted but a relationship with a cop in the loop saved them all.

Many former combat-arms men would respond in kind to a midnight door-kicking raid. Any fool can buy some swat gear and yell "police." If you give these men mere seconds to make a decision - a portion of them will be sending bullets your way.
