Lucky for me I live in boise, so we don't have to lose any Mexicans. That said, I wish we did. You whites are lazy and expensive, and do ****ty work.

But seriously, I wish there were Mexicans here. The trade workers here are horrible.

I do almost everything myself, outside of medical treatment and complex legal tasks, and very occasionally auto repair and maintenance. Being skilled in many disciplines is valuable.

I understand time has value and paying someone else makes sense if you are well off, but it also makes you dependent on the availability of others, and you can't judge the quality of the work you are getting so well.

Foreigners who WORK are the kind we should want here. They easily pull their weight. It's the moochers and criminals that we should want out of here. Non-citizens should not be allowed to vote, hold office, or receive redistributed money. If they commit a felony, they should serve their full sentence and THEN be deported and never allowed to return. It should take 10 years of good behavior before an immigrant becomes a citizen. But it should be easy for law abiding immigrants (and those without communicable diseases) to obtain a work visa to work here.

I have several local guys for electrical, gen maint and painting that are all white. I call them when there is something my father needs done that I either can't or don't have the time to do. My tree guy is white and he lives near Snook.

Deport our loser citizens first

I'm here in Florida for my niece's wedding this weekend.

I've stated before that my sister and BIL are from Brazil. They were naturalized nearly 20 years ago.

I was talking with the BIL last night. He and my sister both voted for Trump and are all on board with stopping illegal immigration and deporting the bad guys, BUT he believes it will be a disaster to the economy if we start mass deporting illegals. He believes it should be a more gradual approach so the market can more easily correct.

He's a carpenter, so he works with several illegals, but not as many as others since it's much harder to illegally get to Florida from Brazil and most of the people he works with speak Portuguese.

I told him we should never have let the economy grow on the back of the cheap labor, he agreed, but also steered back to reality that it is this way.

I think we are both right. I do think there will be issues with agriculture and housing labor if we quickly mass deport the actual hard workers who do not otherwise commit crimes. I wish we could find a path to citizenship for people who want to be here, be American, and work hard.

I hired a painter to paint the inside of my house before we moved in. He did excellent work and was much less expensive than a couple of the bigger painting companies I got bids from. He was recommended by neighbors. He was supposed to come today to do a couple other things. He just texted me that he's not going to be able to make it because a friend told him that "La Migra" is going to be in his area so he's staying home.

DOH! Maybe his pricing should have been a tip off? He speaks passable English. I never ask vendors their immigration status. Especially if the come highly recommended. Should I? Do you?

Seems like a good opportunity to start a service like "Angie's List" but only verified US Citizens or Legal Residents can advertise there.

Honestly, I think the best approach right now would be to go HARD after the absolute worst...violent criminals, convicts, gangbangers and pedophiles. THEN focus efforts on those that have come in under Biden's watch. "Last in, first out" approach.

F our government, we are so overtaxed and burdened it's not even funny...they have been sucking us dry like leaches so they can live large and hook their slimey pals up all across the world. I don't blame some guy running a small independent roofing company for hiring the cheapest labor he can find in an effort to better provide for his family.

I think focusing on criminals...and I mean unleashing everything on them and making it very public...and then the most recent immigrants is the best and least "crippling" approach.

I'm with you on this.

However...

My father has hit the point where he is admitting that he can't climb ladders, dig up broken pipes, and such. I'm glad that he hiring people to do those things.

There is a point where it's better to hire help than risk injury.

(Please don't tell me that I should be doing it for him. I'd love to but his new wife is a piece of work and has forbidden all of Dad's family from coming to his house, me included.)

Same. They do great work and their rates are solid. We feed them consistent business and routinely refer them to friends.

I realize there are a few exceptions (like one white kid in our neighborhood wabout to go to Navy working as a handyman), but hispanic males just tend to be far more masculine, handy and resourceful.

I believe the kid I mentioned was raised a little more in the country and picked up a lot of the tools of the trade that way.

This is a myth, as their presence adds those jobs back. They need to eat, sleep, drive places, and otherwise consume stuff too. And new jobs are created to provide all of that to those additional people.

Reduce business taxes and restrictions so they can charge less. Problem solved.

My dad and I replaced our roof twice when I was younger.

But, yes, there is a valid argument to being too old, busy, or both to do things yourself.

Should be lots of unemployed federal workers hitting the job market soon. Sounds like a great opportunity to learn a skill and be able to support yourself and family. Cut back our social welfare system and clean up all the people on "disability" and we now have a more free economic system that works like it's supposed to.

Unemployed lazy people taking advantage of the system receiving government assistance is an inefficiency in the economy. Illegal workers taking cash for services and not paying taxes is inefficiency in the economy. Make the unemployed, lazy people fill the jobs for the non tax paying illegal's and send the illegals back to their home countries and you've solved 2 very large problems of a free market system.
