I feel compelled to remind everyone that Dickies' parent company recently decided to move Dickies to California. I still cannot fathom that disconnect from reality.

Should have recruited Bojangles. Could have had a 5 star but settled for a 3.

Fear not, Bojangles is coming to Texas. 20 stores in the DFW area alone.

Life imitating art...

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

I have an old acquaintance (schoolmate from elementary thru high school, played on same little league baseball team) who built an empire of Yum restaurants and wound up selling it for ~$1B.

Never would have thought he'd have been the kid from our school who made it big!

Well, Texas Roadhouse is based out of Louisville, KY, so this seems to be fair.

Trying way too hard to be Texas cool here. Plano and city of Dallas share a border. Some folks with City of Dallas addresses are zoned to Plano ISD. Now if you want to be all folksy and use this for Prosper or Celina, it would seem less dumb

When Harland Sanders sold KFC in 1964 when he was 74 years old (said he was getting old and knew no one in his family was either willing or capable to run it) the purchasers kept him on as a spokesperson.

Since his picture was ON the company, he would visit locations and was publicly vocal about how quality had gone to hell. {I'm sure the company was thrilled, don't you know.}

I mention this only because I think, when it's done right, the KFC original recipe chicken is an excellent product.

Unfortunately, I never go to KFC any more due to lack of any quality control and generally poor service spanning decades of time.

I realize that's on the franchise operator, but maybe now that corporate is moving to Texas they'll send some 'secret shoppers' out and kick some of their franchisees asses.

Frankly, I don't know how the KFC operators in Central Texas keep their doors open. Their poor quality and service has led to folks like me forgetting that they are even an option.

Sure, rant over.

Dickies to CA sounds about right to me. Dickies always represented crappy North Texas BBQ in my mind. Now that the DFW metroplex is starting to get some hill country BBQ, Dickies can get out and make room.

Weird to think that KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell were purchased by PepsiCo to generate market share during the Cola Wars and then spun off into Yum Brands, which is now even larger than PepsiCo.

That just goes to show you most CEOs are idiots. Most of them make changes like that one and this one in the OP because it looks like they are doing something. Or to bump the stock price on the news so they can sell or exercise their options.
Can't disagree with you there.

PepsiCo is losing market to Coke. Hey let's buy really popular fast food restaurant chains and force them to only serve Pepsi! Yeah that's the ticket!

The food business is pretty cutthroat.

Back in the 1990s when Pepsico still owned KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, I was employed by a firm that contracted to both Coca-Cola and Frito-Lay (owned by PepsiCo). We never spoke of our other clients in the presence of the others.

Anheuser Busch started a snack food line in the 1980s called Eagle Snacks that was supposed to compete with Frito-Lay. In several of the Frito plants I worked in there were floor mats entering the production area that said "Wipe Feet Here" with an Anheuser Busch logo. Frito/Pepsi did everything they could to run AB out of the snack business, and they succeeded. The Frito guys were some of the most anal retentive, difficult, clients I ever worked for in 30 years, and it shows in their products. They are consistently high quality. That said, I also went through several Taco Bell and KFC kitchens. The level of cleanliness and order was largely dependent upon the franchisee. Some were clean enough to eat off the floor, and others I would not set foot in again.

We were working at a Coca Cola plant for one project, and one of our subs went to lunch at Pizza Hut. He left the Pizza Hut cup sitting on the dash of his truck and almost got kicked off the project. That is how staunch these guys could be.
