Seems like Delta's lawyers just got done watching Landman.
So now we know where their floor is. Or is that the ceiling now? The ceiling is the new floor?
$30k is CHEAP if they sign away right to future legal action

If you got no physical injuries I think you gotta go with a John Madden cruiser strategy here as a measure of damages.

You so traumatized by the crash that it's no longer reasonable for you and your family to travel by plane ever again.

So you need a John Madden cruiser style bus to make you whole again.

$300-400 thousand will get you into a nice Class A RV. Work a deal for around that and you walking away with a win.

Send that offer to Delta and I think you be sitting under the auto-retractible awning of your very own RV by summertime.

Here you go:

Wednesday 12 February 2025
Quote:

United Express flight flight UA4427, a CRJ-550 operated by GoJet (N549GJ), suffered a runway excursion after landing on runway 11 in snowy conditions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL).

You may board an aircraft without fear once again.

DEI?!?!????
If the problem likely had a human component, such as a ground crew failure to de-ice the runway or something similar, and the St. Louis airport sent out videos bragging about DEI for their ground crews, then it would certainly be a valid question to be asked.

Nah. Delta knows they're getting sued for many millions on this. I'm curious if that 30k is deducted from any future settlement. Just seems like a PR move by Delta.

This is a JG Wentworth quick settlement kinda deal.

You don't wanna be lumped in with 80 other passengers and a mountain of shared expenses! It's your money and you want it now!

You can almost feel the crisp mountain air this summer as you crack the door to your diesel pusher parked in Glacier national park.

It's nonsense

It's a colloquialism used commonly in America whether it's nonsense or not. I just find it hard to believe that someone hasn't ever heard it. You can probably find 50+ references to it on texags alone.

We may well be looking at a 24-year old pilot here that had just graduated with a BS in commercial aviation in winter 2022. Rumored to have struggled with training and was still doing some sort of remedial OJT at the time of the crash as the second pilot was alleged to have been a SIM instructor.

Again, if this is accurate, it seems kinda wild that they be doing this. Outside of the military is it that common to have 24-year old pilots flying anything with 80-passengers in the back?

Looking like this pilot was a product of an accelerated training program Delta was running called Delta Propel. Partnered with universities around the country where students would get qualified as a flight instructor on prop planes in college and then after graduation they would try and get them qualified on jets.

Also still looking like this was some sort of OJT check-ride situation where the FO was a senior flight trainer for the Delta Propel program.

I think the problem is a global shortage of pilots that is only getting worse. Look at how many planes the airlines in India alone are trying to get delivered over the next 5-10 years, it's stupefying. The US3 way back when used to not have to worry about these things impacting them, but it's a huge problem now.

And everyone is focused on Delta right now but AA has their own similar thing and note at the bottom of the page the focus on diversity. United's had a CEO who dressed in drag so I am almost positive they do the same stuff.

I do think it's silly they won't release the names of the pilots yet, but I don't want to be accused of 'literally melting down' about it.

Sim instructors are not the same as line check airmen. The Capt was a sim instructor so this was a regular flight meaning she passed her sim training, passed her operational experience training (flying with passengers with a check airman to give the final blessing for notmal line operations), and is now flying the line.

And as we have seen on this very thread, the poison that is DEI, is that you are guilty until proven innocent, if you aren't a straight, white, older, male.

Newsflash: Planes crashed before DEI. They crashed during DEI. If we wipe out the cancer of DEI, they will still crash.
But at least we'll know it wasn't on account of DEI.
This. I would rather have white dudes for anything that is potentially life or freedom threatening. Pilots, Doctors, Lawyers, Police, EMS, Fire fighters, combat arms soldiers and the like. I know they do not want to hire white men, so if they are there, they were selected from the deepest and most competitive applicant pool.

Give me the white dude.

This DEI push in aviation begs the question of when will the flying public demand info on crews when flying.

We have public postings for food safety in restaurants. Why not have a Rate my Flight Crew system so I can ensure the pilot of my plane meets my expectations for experience / safety?

OK dude or whoever you are. I'm worried that our aviation has been taken over by woke ideology pushing DEI nonsense. It's one thing to "go woke go broke" but when it's "go woke go crash" that's when I get concerned about my personal safety flying in an aircraft as well as my friends and family.

If this was a DEI hired pilot who put 80 lives at risk I want that to be made VERY public so pressure can be applied to quickly reverse the hiring practices across all of our airlines.

Merit based hiring ONLY.

No matter how much dei is pushed by these companies, when something happens and the plebes start talking about dei, they are just conspiracy theorists or insane or, as you said, literally melting down. Dei in hiring is so prevalent i truly don't understand how you couldn't look at things like this through that lens.

No Asians either, many of them come through on exchange programs for certain careers and their approval or certification processes in their home nations are often Les rigorous than ours.

If they were trained here then fine but there is often no way to tell by name alone unless they have an American first name, which thankfully many of them do.

What part of merit based hiring do you not understand?

For something as critical as flying an aircraft of hundreds of souls I want the VERY best pilots hired and I could care less what race/gender/creed they are but when hiring is based on DEI by definition it means merit takes a back seat. That's unacceptable.
