I think an honest clear investigation needs to be done and if anyone is caught with some criminal activity or insider trading, they need to serve jail time,

At this point, I doubt it was just insider trading. I bet a bunch of them get caught with their grubby little mitts in the USAID cookie jar.

No. His net worth increased because he's a very successful businessman that has deep ties into healthcare companies and was worth ~$400MM before congress

Then an inquiry should come out squeaky clean right? How's that saying go that the left loves? If youve got nothing to hide then no reason to worry.

I mean the IRS can audit us for any or no reason at all. These people are worth tens of millions and in many cases hundreds of millions. They should get scrutinized FAR more heavily than we do. Oh, and don't forget to declare that $600 you made on Etsy….

If you're not also investigating and imprisoning the people passing the material, non-public information to the politicians, then this only for show.

It seems most of the insider trading allegations are jealousy

If this was accurate and consistent why wouldn't everyone use a similar strategy ?

Just read the Stock Market thread on the B&I board. Using the trades of insiders as a guide, won't consistently beat the market

It's the timing. They are required to disclose trades above $1000 within 45 days. So copying their trades 45 days later may not work so well.

Let's assume that those in the list broke no laws…if so, then we probably need to add some new laws. With actual independent enforcement and penalties. Otherwise it's just another tool subject to political abuse.

So its the time delay between the trades and the disclosures where their money is made? Ok, then reduce it to 2 days like insiders of publicly traded companies.

This still doesn't address how and from whom they received the material, non-public information.

Rick Scott was uber wealthy before Congress
Several of these people were, thus the investigation. If they start cherry picking from the outset, all claims of neutrality are gone before they get started. The dems only weapons are racism, sexism, and politics. This neutralizes all three

I hope the review is conducted in a non partisan way. If crimes were committed, justice should be served. Nothing wrong with being wealthy. But if the wealth was gained by breaking the law then that's a different conversation.
