DOGE is operating in secret, so we don't even know everything that they're doing. That's already a massive legal problem, but what we do know is it's apparently Elon Musk and a handful of 20 somethings. They haven't been confirmed by the Senate for these positions, and we really don't even know if they've gone through any kind of background checks, or if they've been given clearance and training to access and handle everything they're accessing and handling. Do you really trust Elon Musk and some incels with your parents' Social Security and Medicare information? Or if you know any federal employees, with their banking and other personal information?

The other thing we know they are doing is dismissing employees and ending programs. Each of those is a problem for two reasons:
  • We don't know yet if they even have the legal authority to dismiss these people or offer them buyouts. It's possible a court will stop all of this. But that might not happen for months, even years. Maybe some critical scientist at the EPA was just told to pack up and leave, and maybe a year from now he'll be told that actually his firing was illegal and he can have his old job back. But by then he'll have moved on, and all of his institutional knowledge will have gone with him.
  • Congress authorized this money to be spent. Congress is the people's representatives and unequivocally has the "power of the purse" according to the constitution. The executive branch, especially a completely private citizen like Musk, has no authority to unilaterally decide that USAID is just not going to operate anymore. This is Trump trying to wrest control of the government from Congress and put it solely within the president's hands. Every American should oppose this.

This is a question of constitutional authority, not 'keeping secrets.'
I thought it was established that each agency being looked into has 2-3 designated people within that agency, assigned to deal with and work with DOGE.

The Secretary of Treasury had an interview where he discussed sitting on the panel that hired the person working at treasury.

So if they are "working in secret", they have to be a part of the worst secret operation ever in government.
It's secret in the sense that we don't know who is conducting these "audits", what their background is, and most crucially, what evidence they have to support any conclusion of fraud, waste, or abuse. None of these people have been vetted or confirmed, yet they're granted access to Government systems with citizen PII? That's problematic.

We care about security and PII now???

And yet the IRS, for years, has knowingly and publicly made payments to illegals.
And yet, no one seems to care that USAID was ignoring the President's direct executive order
Hillary had a server in her ****ing bathroom.
Do you know which corrupt POS approved FEMA payments to illegals in NYC? in direct violation of the Presidents order?

But suddenly, ooh, we care about security and PII , what a ****ing joke.
Democrats are just corrupt and greedy.

This is absurd. Who are all the employees at Treasury? We don't know.

And how do you know that these people aren't vetted? Are you implying that you have an issue with how classified information is readily available within government? If that is the case, then that is a completely different topic.

You don't know if these people were vetted. You don't know what qualifications within the candidates that were most important to the heads of those agencies. You don't know anything.

You can be mad that Trump pulled one over on the swamp. He did. He had 4 years to figure out his next four years and it looks like he was a very busy man.

Keep up. It is going to be a very full four years.

So every person working with the cutting edge DOGE group who is ONLY auditing the US TAXPAYER's massive books and then making RECOMMENDATIONS and SUGGESTIONS to their POTUS boss, should be trained/vetted/probed/etc by the folks who have pissed away trillions of our hard-earned dollars for years and years? I would guess that would take 10 years or so based on the typical incompetency of the system.

Hell if this huge runaway train isn't stopped ASAP we won't even have a country anymore. Or maybe that is the goal.

We do know. They have been identified.

I don't understand the need to reject what is best for all just so one can just be a ahole.

What would be refreshing to hear from leftists…..wow those are crazy expenditures and should be stopped. My concern is keeping PII's and other personal info safe…..that is as easily addressed as the need for accountability.
