But regardless, let's assume he spoke at a conference that also happened to be attended by "white nationalists." Can he control who else attends a conference he goes to? No.

He praised a genetics professor who "later" said something bad about black people. If you praise somebody's work as a professor, does that mean you are also automatically endorsing and taking responsibility for every single thing that person "later" says in life? No.

His tweet that you posted is just obviously correct. We know that to be objectively true.

Also, even if he is a "white nationalist" (whatever that even is), if he is the most qualified person for the job, then he should get the job.
