Also, your first map appears to represent Russian territory based on Russian claims of annexation and not land that it actually controls. Russia will never actually be granted those entire regions and they've shown no ability to take them at a rate that will yield success unless this grinds on for another 15 years in a static state OR European and US assistance is halted.

Trump is not getting what's already been conquered by Russia in Ukraine without putting US troops on the ground. It's silly to think otherwise.

Trump will probably threaten Russia with this and more sanctions. Putin will say no and Trump will do more sanctions. The sanctions won't work, again, and Russia will end up annexing what it's already gotten for some weak promise that they'll never invade Ukraine again.

Trump and the US have no cards to play other than military force, which they will never play under current circumstances.

Putin is on the clock. His economy is deteriorating and he's running out of ethnic minorities and lolpoors to feed to the meat grinder. He continues to suffer high casualties and new conscripts are generally slaughtered before they become experienced. His hold on some of the existing gains can become tenuous given proper circumstances.

If he doesn't consolidate gains and shut it down within a reasonable timeframe there is significant uncertainty as to what Russian domestic support will look like.

It may be another couple of years but if he holds out for maximalist outcomes then it could bite him in the ass if the US and Europeans continue providing high level support. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
