Aren't Murkowski and Collins Democrats who call themselves Republicans? I'm surprised Collins voted YEA.

I don't doubt the cartels would attempt some violence in this country hoping to scare us into giving in.

However, I also recall a potential international event a few years ago where some American tourists were kidnapped and brutally murdered inside of Mexico and as soon as we started making some noise about repercussions the cartel murdered their own people who did it and put their heads on platters for us as recompense.

They really don't want to go toe to toe with us, if they have to.

The CDG killed the sicarios because they hit the wrong group, caused alot of unwanted attention, and more than anything: knew to much about the real target and who planned it etc. it had nothing to do with appeasing the US. They out a statement after to keep their Robinhood image. Thinking they got hit and the statement got released to appease the US is just an ego centric American Paradigm.

The cartels are the Government in most of Mexico. They are the law and they are the order. It's crazy to think but most of the cartels are far less of a PITA for locals than SSC and estado Police / guardia nacional. For the most mart If you arent on their radar or involved w drugs and honestly especially if you're an american or Canadian, they don't try to traffic you or really mess w you much unless it's floor rights for a business. They save most of the sketchy stuff for the Eastern european women.

We live here and the police are by far more law less than the areas controlled by only a single cartel. Where it gets dangerous is when they're in a turn war. Otherwise they make things work oddly enough.

I only care about the U.S., they can have Mexico, and if Americans want to risk their lives going to a crappy country, go for it.

The cartels run most of the major police forces in the US. Three letter federal agencies too. Their payroll doesn't stop at the Border.

I'm not sure if you are disagreeing with me or not, but it seems to be a balanced way of looking at it, IMO.

I'm allowing for violence by the cartels if we go after them because I do think they will try to scare us into submission. I would if I were them. A large part of our populace has no stomach for that kind of conflict.

I also believe they don't want to have to do it if they don't have to because they know we can absolutely wreck shop if we really want to. My example given is a real-life data point for that opinion.

I'm saying they have no Interest in waging war against the US. The US is a cash cow and where they get their weapons. They want to feed the beast not fight the beast.

And anyone thinking they're hurting because of the border - no mames guey. They use more american citizens than mexicans w a visa to traffic everything.

Pretty much like the Mob or any totalitarian criminal regime. If you don't interfere with their business they mostly leave you alone and avoid drawing undue attention to themselves. This does mean that the democratic government there is a facade and fraud. The cartels operate the government or control it and it only becomes an issue if there is a turf war over who controls what area and owns which politicians or if there are political activists trying to stop the corruption.

Our problem is they keep sending contraband of all types into the USA and it does us considerable harm, so we're no happy with the corrupted government there.

Exactly! To them it's a business and bad business means you die. I hate to say it but the establishments owned and operated by the cartels are FAR safer con menos pinches chingaderas than the parts of town w the local police check points and shakedowns.

I also think the mexican cartels get lumped together w alot of the central and south american trash. I hate to say it but the mexican cartels kinda put it out that they hold themselves to a little higher standard of Operating than TDA etc.

The mexicans here don't like the ilegales from central and south America either

These are the illiterate losers our special forces would be up against. They are only able to do what they do because every day Mexicans are not armed and never have been. It would be a joke for us...more of a way to blow of steam for our guys, as opposed to any sort of training opportunity.

When I lived in Cuernavaca many years ago, we were told to avoid those wearing a 'baby blue' uniform; I THINK they were the State Police, which the movie "Sicario" reiterated their corruption. But let's be honest, ALL of Mexico is corrupt as hell!

Cuernavaca isn't in the US and hence IDGAF about their police force.

There is little doubt the cartels have infiltrated some American PD's and even a few government agencies via some corrupted officers/agents but the notion put forth by Bayou City is complete fear mongering fan fiction.

Currently there are two B-52s orbiting just north of Venezuela.

Since they're publicly visible, we obviously want everyone to know the aircraft are there.

Flying back from Cancun as we speak. Cancun is obviously not a day to day picture of all of Mexico but I've traveled to Juarez, Cancun and Tijuana. Such a beautiful country with tons of natural resources. Good god fearing and family driven people. It's a shame it's always been so corrupt.

An obvious example on why we should demand transparency along with law and order in the US.

Two RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft took a little trip yesterday to the southern border.

One might have just been a training flight (it had a WC-135 Constant Phoenix with it and both flew to Davis-Monthan and then home a few hours after landing), but the other flew around for awhile and then disappeared from the flight trackers.

I am trying to imagine the scenario where these drug-running crews are lined up waiting for their assignments.

"Jose, today you and Benito take the load to Miami."

Do they start crying or do they just pee down their leg? Maybe they draw straws.
I don't think you know me.
