Neat EO that lives up to campaign promises.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/protecting-the-american-people-against-invasion/

1) Revokes Biden immigration EOs, and demands that all agencies update their materials to that effect
2) Restates that the primary purpose of ICE is "the enforcement of the provisions of the [Immigration and Nationality Act ] and other Federal laws related to the illegal entry and unlawful presence of aliens in the United States"
3) Establishes a new task force (yuk) designed to coordinate federal and state enforcement of immigration laws (yea!).
4) streamline the process to get a deportation court order.
5) build detention facilities for suspected illegal aliens to wait deportation6
6) Orders DHS to use the regulatory framework in place under the INA to enter into agreements with state and local governments to give them authority to assist with, but not replace, ICE with enforcement of the INA
7) Encouraging emigration of illegals - basically giving the DHS authority to spend money to assist with illegals trying to follow the law and go home.
8) Start requiring more bonds for VISAs. I like this. Over stay your VISA, you forfeit your bond. This would be even more compelling if the bond is paid for over time instead of all at once. We will let you in the country for a little money, but you are going to have to pay money monthly towards a refundable bond and keep up with your court requirements to legally stay here.
9) Re-establishes an immigration NARC system, providing an expedited system in place to have citizens report on illegals that committed a crime against them. Illegal alien stole stuff from your garage? Call VOICE and get ICE involved. Good way to get leads on the people we need to prioritize deporting.
10) Revokes all federal funding to "sanctuary" jurisdictions. This is pretty huge. Want to fight ICE? Fine, no money for roads, schools, etc. coming from the federal government. This is a huge hammer, and I don't really like this use of power because it is often misused, but it is a bold shot across the bow.
11) Stop funding of NGO's until an audit of that funding is undertaken for fraud, waste, or illegal activities. Initiate any legal claw-back of those wasted or fraudulent grants.
12) Stop public benefits to illegals. OMB review to deny funding to any agency providing benefits to illegals.

Not sure how much of this will stand up in court, but it is deeply entrenched with established law. It basically says, you know what? we are going to follow the INA, which was passed in 1952 but has been largely ignored.

It will be challenged based on accusations of racism, which I think will fall flat with this SCOTUS.

This is the first of the EOs I have reviewed extensively. It has serious teeth if executed as intended. If all of Trumps EOs follow this template, demanding very strict enforcement of established law, I could see this administration making a dent very quickly.

On a side note, I think that the guys that wrote the EO are cribbing off of Texags for good ideas. Pretty sure F16 contemplated many of these changes. I have specifically argued for 4-7, 11 and 12. The VISA bond thing is pretty compelling.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

let me give you a preview:

SCOTUS will never hear any case on this. there is nothing wrong with it legally. (its fantastic politically and policy wise)

any "hawaii judge" that tries to kill it will be swatted down by any circuit court

It is a huge hammer and I have no problem with it. Far better to use a stick that withholds money instead of a carrot of spending more money to try to "solve" the problem like the swamp usually does business.

I like these two even more than #10. These could be major in education and health care abuses.

Was just about to post a FIFY on that post. Catholic Charities is where you want to focus.

However, each Diocese is pretty much run independently so it is likely that only a few Diocese along the border would be affected by this. I don't know how much funding they get from the Federal Government if any, but I'm sure there is some.

CCUSA, Lutheran Charities, a whole bunch of them, run by the same types of dimwit bleeding heart middle age women as that 'bishop' who lectured Trump in church this week and then went on CNN. All the mainline Protestant (and oh by the way some Jewish groups) have the same stuff on the side, functionally, this isn't a denominational knock, just that Catholic Charities is the biggest one.

Border parishes truly participate in collecting government funding as well as parishes away from the border for the so called charity work*. * = human smuggling.

This issue with Catholic Charities has been a tough one for me. On the one hand, from the Christian charitable perspective, nations and politics shouldn't matter when it comes to helping someone in need.

Feeding them, clothing them, providing them with medicine all seem appropriate. I may not personally like it because sometimes I think this just creates more drive for illegals because they know they will get taken care of, but it fits the mission of charity.

Where Catholic Charities crosses the line with me is cooperating with the Federal Government, getting paid by them, to move these people all across the country which can't be described in any other way than participating in human trafficking. And when there is some secrecy to it, it's even worse.

No organization in the world is immune from leftist infiltration and the resulting cancer.

You going to broad brush all of these independent agencies or just focus on the ones that have actually done something wrong?

Yes.

They charge for appointments, legal services, and make money off of illegal aliens. Reminds me of the Red Cross. Dirtbags living off the misery of poor people.

"The genius in Trump's orders was in its bare-knuckled aggression. They didn't nibble around the edges or cautiously test the waters; they are kicking down the DEI door and setting the woke house on fire. Institutions that leaned heavily on DEI to shield their mediocrity or dress up their faux ideological conformity are now scrambling to protect themselves, not out of principle, but out of sheer self-preservation.

The speed and scope of the reaction to the orders could achieve in mere months what it might have taken decades of lawsuits and debates to accomplish. The DEI regime is being forced to confront its own contradictions, and whether you view it as a restoration of fairness and merit, or as an overdue reckoning of justice, it's undeniably bold.

And more regarding DEI -

Actually, never mind Trump's first term. This strategic master class is like nothing we have ever seen from a new presidential administration. Trump just invented a brand new benchmark, and has redefined what it means to hit the ground running. His political enemies are so far behind that they are vanishing from the rear-view mirror. It's not just that Trump is already scoring touchdowns while the Democrats are still warming up; he's landscaping the football field and installing more Trump-only touchdown zones.
He's re-writing the rules in real time. Critics point to how easy executive orders are to undo, but they miss the point entirely. By outsourcing the work, Trump is reconfiguring society itself. And since it's all based on the existing legal framework provided by the Constitution, the Supreme Court, and federal civil rights laws, it will be heinously difficult to oppose.
The speed such as requiring things be done today defeats lawfare. A lot of stuff will be moot long before it can get in front of a judge.

When you read the actual language, not tricky at all.

Quote:

Sec. 20. Denial of Public Benefits to Illegal Aliens. The Director of the Office of Management and Budget shall take all appropriate action to ensure that all agencies identify and stop the provision of any public benefits to any illegal alien not authorized to receive them under the provisions of the INA or other relevant statutory provisions.

They are authorized to receive public education (for now). So this would not apply to that benefit

I live in a blue/sanctuary state, but I don't support the sanctuary crap. If this goes through, it may hurt in the short run if federal funding is cut for road/infrastructure projects but maybe it will wake up the voters to quit supporting this liberal/woke crap.

A few of the recent elections for congress here in OR have actually been close races, mostly due to the fact the Portland and Eugene are pretty blue while the rest of the state is red, maybe this will change some minds. The roads an schools already suck, what if they get worse?

It won't.

Actual language:

Quote:

Sec. 17. Sanctuary Jurisdictions. The Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall, to the maximum extent possible under law, evaluate and undertake any lawful actions to ensure that so-called "sanctuary" jurisdictions, which seek to interfere with the lawful exercise of Federal law enforcement operations, do not receive access to Federal funds. Further, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall evaluate and undertake any other lawful actions, criminal or civil, that they deem warranted based on any such jurisdiction's practices that interfere with the enforcement of Federal law.
