Surely they had more than just an officer observing people loading luggage into a vehicle at a hotel. Seems like the legality of the initial stop will be the most contested issue here. What made the luggage suspicious? Was the officer specifically looking at this vehicle for a reason? Or was it just on a whim?
Hopefully they had other evidence before detaining.
That's what you're worried about in this situation?
If the initial stop had no probable cause, these guys walk because nothing gained from it can be used in court, so it's a pretty important point.
