Public universities are constrained by how much they can pay employees while private ones aren't, so this isn't surprising.
Yeah, that's why I referenced them. tu was getting upset that smu was beating them at their own game and went crying to the ncaa.93MarineHorn said:Watch "Pony Excess" on Netflix. It's really good, especially if you were following the SWC during that time. They had most of their players on a payroll. DMN and another local Dallas newspaper were on it. They got caught twice and kept paying their players anyway. If any team deserved the DP it was them.Secolobo said:
Whorns don't have the NCAA to give SMU the death penalty this time.

And the biggest factor...which city would one want to retire in? Dallas or Austin? I assume he will only do this for a few years then call it quits.

Good for him a big promotion
Most likely a fat raise.
Most likely a lot less headaches.
Looks like a no-brainer to me.

Is this guy conservative? I keep seeing SMU listed as a conservative college. If true, i hope he isn't a leftist crusader come to ruin the school.

Hopefully this helps to wreck any "alignment" there may be between the prez, chancellor, AD, and Sark.
That would still rank it ahead of about 97% of US colleges.Burdizzo said:Buck Turgidson said:

I don't have first hand knowledge, but I always thought of SMU as RINO level conservative. Exhibit A is the W Presidential Livrary

I thought the Gov all but outlawed all that?
There are a lot of other things at work. Including targeting non-productive majors, the future of tenure, etc that are going to generate huge feedback from faculty.
The Presidents are going to have rough sledding.

I missed the article about the vet school being liberal. Please give me more details or point me to the appropriate thread.reineraggie09 said:KillerAg21 said:
It's wild to me that old Ags think A&M is this bastion of conservatism it was decades ago and reject anything that is not that. A&M now is very different and much more accepting of the things people pin on t.u.
I will be in an Aggies corner regardless of any personal differences, affiliations, and outlooks on life as long as they are respectful of others and their thoughts and feelings.
This. The vet school might be the most liberal place on campus now. Crazy times.
