I am not privy to the timeline of when and how the gifts are handled.

One would assume they almost immediately go to the archives, who would want to deal with that crap?

Thet are supposed to be logged and disclosed ASAP and the archives take control, absent a good reason why they should not after an official visit has ended. Either way.

I guarantee the one that ends up in the archives will be worth $20k. Maybe not the one presented by the Indian premier, but the one that gets turned in.

Heads of State are always given and give gifts as a representative of their state. The gifts belong to the American people and often end up in presidential museums. Having said that, check Jill's purse as she leaves the WH.
