No they don't. If you accept re-booking/delayed flight, you forfeit the money. I know this from experience. Recently delayed 7 hours - took the re-booking, applied for a refund and denied.doubledog said:Quote:
American Airlines grounds all flights in the United States after a 'technical issue'
According to the new law, AA must refund all flyers for canceled or long delayed flights (automatically).
AA is headed for bankruptcy They had a good run.

For issues regarding safety, the refund rule does not apply.
I think the fact that their young son did not have to deboard from the flight, along with the grandparents on the same flight, made them rethink their decision. The grandfather was extremely agitated, and was ready to make them forcefully remove all five of them from the plane. I also think the flight crew realized that it was a dumb decision to remove these two targeted passengers, especially after everyone was on board.jkag89 said:
Wow. Such interaction usually does not end well for passengers refusing to deboard. I guess the air crew realized how arbitrary the selection was because if the captain doesn't want you on his aircraft he pretty much has the authority to remove you.

ETA: If American Airlines could not make accurate calculations on the safe fuel amount for each flight, it may have led to them shutting down their flights.

ATC has no authority to determine weight limits on a flight. The calculations for weight are solely the responsibility of the PIC, and he/she is the ultimate authority on deciding on the proper steps to reconcile.
