The carbon credit industry is becoming a well known scam that corporations use to greenwash their reputation. Doesn't really do anything for "climate change", but it allows a lot of people to cash in on the mania.

Next up - biodiversity credits. Biodiversity credits are a financial tool that incentivizes the protection and restoration of natural environments:

People buy a certificate that represents a measured and evidence-based unit of positive biodiversity outcome

And who are these people? Non-profit organizations, governments, landowners, and companies generate credits, which private companies can purchase to meet their biodiversity commitments.

If this sounds like a recipe for greenwashing, that's because it often is. Without rigorous standards and oversight, biodiversity credits risk becoming a feel-good scam for companies to polish their reputations while ecosystems continue to decline.

In 2004, I had a chance to buy swamp land in east Texas at rock bottom prices. I proposed to make a "carbon" farm. Pay me money and I would plant a tree (in your companies name). I could have harvested those trees by now and planted more... I could have been a billionaire.. My wife said no, it was a scam... She was right.

I was at a networking lunch last week in Houston and the guy sitting to my right says he recently got laid off and is looking for a new job before his severance runs out.

Later in the conversation, the guy starts talking in a positive way about carbon credits.

I thought, hmm, you're out of work in Houston and you're promoting carbon credits. I can see why you're out of work.

This has already been proven to be a scam. Recall last year when the largest company in the world that was doing this announced that all of the investment and transactions made on behalf of saving the Amazon were fake news. None of the money they had ingested was ever actually deployed or was effective in doing anything.

To their credit, they actually announced this zero ROI themselves within their going out of business declaration. So, all of the corporations and people who bought into that set their money on fire.

I work on tankers. We carry hundreds of millions of bbls of oil all over the world. I transfer crude ship to ship. We are converting our workboats and some tankers to hybrid battery power. The obsession with greenification of the fleet is ridiculous.

Hydroponics?
When I was living in LA, I heard ads on the radio for a convention about hydroponics and it sounded interesting.

I'd seen some stuff in the 1970s and I was intrigued.

Luckily, before I made firm plans to attend the show, I figured out that these days, it was basically just about weed.

The carbon credit is no different than someone selling murder credits.

you know, I won't murder anyone this week, I sell my credit to someone who wants to murder someone, and the offset gets us to net zero murders, somehow.

So I heard an NPR broadcast on this this morning. They came to the conclusion that biodiversity credits were great BUT companies just weren't going to buy them without government intervention. But that was totally worth it to save some animals

So there you go.

If my dog and cat buy shares of stock in a company, does that count as biodiversity? Naturally they will be filing their own tax returns.

Not going to download a stupid app to determine WTF is a "unit of positive biodiversity"

Maybe propose sex with blond AND brunette = one unit.
