Absolutely nothing.

I was so optimistic about Trump's second term and DOGE, but now I realize that it's all nonsense.

Republicans are absolutely worthless. Just incompetent, idiotic, pushover morons. Democrats will ALWAYS get their way. Always.

No one is going to get deported.

Taxes are not going to get significantly cut.

DOGE is not going to do a damn thing about shrinking government.

Spending is not going to get reigned in.

It's all a facade. This next four years will look EXACTLY like the last four.

This past week was clear evidence of that.

Its got to be an improvement over what we got. Even if we don't deport just stimming the migrant flow is huge.

NO. This is incorrect.

A couple of weeks now, believe, specifically warned, don't expect much of the Republican Party. They are part of the problem, not the solutions of America's ills. They will need to be arm twisted into doing the public will -- they won't first choose to.

Foreign policy train wreck will change immediately.

Cultural destruction from the executive branch will also stop.

DOGE will be able to trim *executive* offices and departments. Trump has only to order what they say.

The military will start to improve and get back to a victory oriented mission rather than social experiment.

Deportations of criminals will take place. Again, not congressional, but executive.

DOJ won't be criminal.

We may get reformed alphabets.

The years will not look anything like the `bad actor American government ' of the past four years.

Legislatively, yeah, maybe a "barely show." Will be lucky to get some tax cuts as before and some legislative process reform. What most may get is govt out of the economy's way.

Johnson thinks it is still important to pass bills that will pass a Democrat run Senate and President. That ends in January. Wishful thinking believes his procedural thinking will change at that time because it can.

Even if Johnson stays course there is still the FACT that foreign affairs from other countries have ALREADY changed to a pro-America stance even though Trump has yet to be sworn in.

That alone proves OP's take incorrect.

But we did get here - step 1 - and if they don't start much, much earlier doing separate bills next year, I'll be disappointed.

I have the same bad gut feeling. I feel like we are past the point of no return fiscally. I just hope there are cultural changes at this point and that conservative citizens get more and more pissed and wake up and start despising the true enemy within.

Some conservative representative lady was on AM radio talking about how the spending between those two bills is till pretty much the same. Can someone fact check that? I want to believe the opposite.

Agree with OP, Trump presidency will be like what we saw 2016-2018. Except more Middle East wars.

DOGE won't even touch defense/military spending OR entitlements. What's even the point?

These are the main parts of each bill. Divisions A and B are the same for both. The missing Divisions is pork. Really need to get the govt back to pre-pandemic level spending as start then go down from there.

Original https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20241216/CR.pdf
DIVISION A FURTHER CONTINUING APPROPRIATIONS ACT, 2025
DIVISION B DISASTER RELIEF SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT, 2025
DIVISION C OTHER MATTERS
DIVISION D COMMERCE MATTERS
DIVISION E HEALTH
DIVISION F A STRONGER WORKFORCE FOR AMERICA ACT
DIVISION G OLDER AMERICANS ACT REAUTHORIZATION ACT OF 2024
DIVISION H EXTENSION OF AGRICULTURAL PROGRAM

Passed Bill https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20241216/ARA%2012.20.pdf

The point is most of the federal abuse of power lies in the unelected and unvoted on regulations and department over-reach. Those DOGE will be able to impact.

Military spending doesn't involve much abuse of power, just waste. Entitlements are just an impossible obstacle until re-structured in some way.

Yeah, come on OP. Just wait until we have an even smaller majority in the house since the Republicans could do absolutely nothing to prevent California from stealing our seats.

That's unacceptable. I know it won't happen but anything less than deporting millions and getting back to where we were 4 years ago before the Marxists stole the election is a failure. When are Republicans going to start playing to win?

Millions over what time period? It's important to do but doing it as fast as possible would be extremely costly both in terms of money and political capital.

Much better to do it thoughtfully.

1. Close the border
2. Spend what it takes to find and deport known criminal(beyond illegal entry) illegals.
3. Mandate reporting from law enforcement agencies across the country and deport as contact is made.
4. Mandate reporting from hospitals/healthcare centers and schools that receive federal money and deport when illegals are found.
5. Give employers a path to report illegals that have been working for them, have them deported, and not face criminal liability for having employed them illegally in the past.
6. Expand temporary guest worker programs so that illlegals who aren't violent or criminals can come over here to work legally without our society having the burden of their family also being in the country, IF their labor is needed.
7. Put massive penalties in place for employers that continue to knowingly hire illegals and find a way to help them more easily identify whether their employees are legal or illegal.

I don't think it's quite as bad as all that. But the swamp is deep and entrenched and the change isn't going to happen overnight. Just take each win as a positive step in the right direction.

One thing democrats do well is fall in and do what they're suppose to.

We've got two types of republicans with the Crenshaw type and the Ted Cruz type. Who knows if they'll ever be able to work together.

But republicans are not united. Some are eager to carry out trumps agenda and others think it's their duty to slow it down and make a circus out of their efforts.

Exactly. Trump is one elected person, and Musk wasn't elected at all. Like it or not there are hundreds of others in the elected government that have a say, too. Trump is leading the way but he ain't the only one on the journey.
