His lawyers made a back room deal with the courts somebody got paid under the table due to a technicality he's free.

The leftist ideology unfortunately is destroying this country.

It's truly corruption and evil
No, not really.

Quote:

But after initially charging Smollett with disorderly conduct, Cook County prosecutors dropped the charges against him, noting that he had forfeited his $10,000 bond and had done community service.

After the decision to drop the charges drew significant backlash from the public, former Cook County Judge Michael Toomin appointed former U.S. attorney Dan Webb as a special prosecutor in the case. Webb eventually refiled charges, but Smollett's attorneys have now successfully argued that the new charges amounted to a violation of the double jeopardy clause of the Fifth Amendment, which prevents an individual from being prosecuted twice for the same crime.

"It defies credulity to believe that defendant would agree to forfeit $10,000 with the understanding that CCSAO could simply reindict him the following day," the state supreme court wrote.
Basically he paid a $10,000 fine and did community service and Cook County dropped the charges. Then he was reindicted on the same charges, which is double jeopardy.

You can debate the merits of whether a $10,000 fine and community service was sufficient, once served he can't be charged again, and that is a good thing.

It's more breach of contract than double jeopardy

Surprised it took this long.
They had to wait until after the election.

This was done to push Kamala's anti-lynching bill, remember?

How funny would it be if a couple MAGA hat wearing dudes beat the shyt out of him and ran off yelling MAGA country.

He then calls police and the nation has to decide whether to believe him.

When he didn't actually serve his prison sentence I knew this was going to happen. Apparently some people get to lie and break the law and others don't. Absolutely disgusting.
