Comcast will spin off many of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC and MSNBC, into a separate public company.
Quote:

The shift, which comes as more and more people opt for streaming services over traditional cable, was telegraphed by the company when it released its most recent earnings last month.
Quote:

Mark Lazarus, current chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, will serve as the new entity's chief executive officer.

"As a standalone company with these outstanding assets, we will be better positioned to serve our audiences and drive shareholder returns in this incredibly dynamic media environment across news, sports and entertainment," Lazarus said Wednesday.
Yeah, good luck with that.

That's one way to spin it.

It's an attempt to placate shareholders who are tired of their radical anti-American programming. Now, they'll just say "No, that's not us. That's them you're upset with."

It is a good sign that they are feeling pressure over their propaganda.

I'd be interested in hearing how much they would be willing to pay me to take those losers off their hands.

Mika and Joe probably should be updating their resumes? Like anyone would even think of giving them a job other than The View?

I've read about creating such a company as a place for multiple conglomerate to stick all of their legacy cable TV channels so they can die a quiet death.

Maddow is going to find out she's not worth the 30 million she's currently being paid.

Say she tries her hand at podcasting? Megyn Kelly has a crap ton of subscribers and is doing very well.

Would Maddow have even one quarter of Megyn's audience/subscribers? Methinks not.

Spinning off toxic assets to a company that can independently declare bankruptcy.

I would love to see Elon buy MSNBC just to watch all the heads explode when he fires all the liberals and hires hot blondes to do news shows with a libertarian lean.

MSNBC needs to clean house and entice O'Reilly, Carlson, and Kelly to come over for an equity interest. I think that group plus a few others along with a non-partisan news service would prosper and take a lot of viewers from Fox.

I wish they didn't include CNBC and MSNBC in the same spinoff. CNBC is a strong network for business, and I would love to see them separated from the Woke news networks, though they have some of those folks on the payroll. I think they need to merge CNBC and CNBC World into one channel and go from market to market over a 24 hours period, similar to what Bloomberg does.

Part of the problem is viewership. Young men listen to 'what's going on' podcasts, so the media format pairs well for Megyn. The same pairing wouldn't exist for Maddow whose limited audience is fellow barren hags. Kinda like the longhorn network.

One would have thought the left learned something from the crash and burn of the radio channel Air America, to try to take on conservative talk radio. They couldn't get advertising money due to lack of audience. Became a black hole for investors begging for donations.

Now that the deeper pockets of Comcast won't be around to subsidize it, it will fail on its own.

More about the deal:

Quote:

But it is a problem for Comcast shareholders. "The transaction will be structured as a tax-free spin to existing shareholders," Comcast President Mike Cavanagh said in a memo seen by NBC News. So Comcast shareholders will soon own shares in two companies. One will be Comcast, the other the spun-off NBCU networks. The hope is that Comcast shares will rise, freed from NBCU ballast.

What happens to the value of those NBCU shares? Presumably, we'll find out the true value of various discredited, leftwing infotainment networks and their high-priced on-air talent.
Oof!

And five years from now when the MSBNC/CNBC spin-off goes belly up, Comcast executives will be able to gloat about growth while original share holders will break even at best.

NewsMax has pretty much done that. A page from the Fox News play book to build an audience.

It's telling that they are spinning off these units. Basically stating that there were no buyers.
