He wants to declare war on the Cartels and pursue mass deportations with the assistance of the military. I don't know the ways and means to these ends. I do know mass deportations will require detention centers.

Lots of opportunity for "training" and I'm reasonably sure they are allowed to do that anywhere on our soil. Training in detention, training in recon, ……….. Their "training" can help release CBP/ICE to do their jobs rather than babysitting and having their hands tied. I honestly curious as to what happens at the border in the next 6 months.
As for the cartels,…………… I don't have the slightest idea how the military can do much and remain above board. There may well be ways…..

- A surge to get out? Especially if the prospect of homelessness looms and no NY hotel room in January
- Will CBP be able to "herd em up" as they cross, hold 'em, and send em right back? That would stop it to the trickle of those trying to escape annd evade - the ones of highest priority to stop.

Then move on to the red states. Start the roundups and deportation there. Red states and cities deserve to be liberated first.
Do this and many of the illegals will flock to "safe" blue cities and states. This will make it harder on blue administrators to run their jurisdictions and undercut their base of support as the problems from ever increasing illegal populations mount. It will make the citizens in those areas more willing to cooperate with Feds to eliminate the problem.
THEN work the blue cities where the populations are concentrated. push everything southward across the border. This will pressure Mexico and the cartels. Cut no deals with Mexico that would stop or alter the flow south, but offer support to the government, including the military, in combatting the cartels. Make it an offer they can't refuse.
You could of course go full Clancy and attack the cartels head-on while the other steps are occurring. I have no issue with a military strike on cartels.
The best way to keep evil men from wielding great power is to not create great power in the first place.
Trump mentioned the military controlling the waterways. He has mentioned in the past using the military to attack Cartels in Central and South America, but I don't know if this is his requirement.B-1 83 said:

Close US bases worldwide. Bring troops home and man the borders. Civil corps unit building 1930 era works projects. Lots of work to do domestic.

I've been telling anyone who would listen that we need to go to war with these cartels. Great training for our Troops and will assist the people in those countries have a safer and better life.

I don't get the detention center and train car talk. Those who don't self deport should be taken to the nearest military airplane hanger, transported to large air hubs, sorted to destinations, and flown out as efficiently as possible. This is the time for "just in time logistics" to shine. Keep em moving. No time to overflow or complain about inadequate facilities.

I know it will never happen in modern times, but it's the right call. The only people thriving in Mexico are on the take. 95% of their population would be better off under the US government, despite all of our own corruption
